✨Small gestures - big impact ✨ At #HugoBoss, we know how to throw amazing parties and enjoy fabulous events with our fans and friends around the globe. We definitely go by the rule: “work hard, play harder!” 😎 However, it's often the small gestures that truly foster connection and that allow for an authentic exchange which creates impact. ✨ Our Leisurewear product development teams (+70 ppl!) located at the HQ in Metzingen have a quarterly tradition of sharing insights over coffee and yummy breakfast. 😋☕️ Everyone pitches in with delicacies (let me tell you: we have some amazing secret bakers and chefs among us!), creating a casual yet authentic setting for real human connection. I love these moments and appreciate this incredible team! Why? ✅ our team is rich in experience and cultural diversity, approx 140 different nationalities work hand in hand every day! I take away a lot of intercultural learnings and new experiences for my taste buds at the same time! ✅ the casual setting allows everyone to relax and connect, aside from KPIs and business reviews as well as titles or hierarchy. It is the moment when we bond over shared hobbies, holiday experiences, family pictures, and some good laughters. ✅ I truly believe that connecting on a personal level, seeing and recognizing the human behind a function, project, or business topic, makes the difference to drive results together and enjoy collaborative solution-finding in our fast-paced daily working hustle. Welcome to the future of knitwear design and production 🔮🧵 Our latest Suedwebs Innovation Hub Story is all about Virtual Knitting, an innovative workflow, that merges the physical and digital worlds and gives new perspectives to the product development. Together with KNITWEAR LAB's knitting know-how and our expertise as yarn producer, we have created a dress and a jacket: 👗 The dress is a fully fashioned garment, knitted in 14gg, with a knit structure in a plated rib structure and a transition into wide floats. The design creates extra width by generating stitches and dropping them off, employing a multi-stepping narrowing technique to achieve extremely narrow angles. The dress is crafted from our 100% Merino wool flat knitting yarn ‘Victoria’ Nm 2/48. 👚 The jacket - a fully fashioned garment, knitted in 7gg (E7.2 gg machine), created in a 3-dimensional structure with double jersey flaps on the single jersey base, manipulated through a multigauge technique. The flaps are longer and shorter. The interlock flaps, varying in length, push themselves down without the need for takedown force. This innovative garment is made from our ‘Victoria’ Nm 2/30. The unique features of Virtual Knitting? 🤔 🎯 Realistic Textures: Our textures are derived directly from the knitting programs, ensuring that the digital representations are closely connected to their physical counterparts. 🤸🏼‍♀️ Open-Source Flexibility: The textures we generate are in an open-source format, compatible with any 3D modelling software, allowing for extensive design experimentation without being tied to a single system. 👡 🏭 German footwear brand BIRKENSTOCK 🇩🇪 is investing 15 million euros in #Arouca, Portugal 🇵🇹, to operate a production unit with more than 600 direct jobs being created. The new factory should be completed by December 2024 and will occupy 13,000 square meters in the #SãoDomingosIndustrialZone, involving a workforce that, by 2025, should reach 600 to 650 direct jobs. For the mayor of Arouca, Margarida Belém, “the attraction of this foreign direct investment by the Birkenstock economic group results from several competitive factors in the country, the region and the municipality”. “Arouca is today an active part of an ecosystem of #innovation and business development based on the areas of #intelligent #specialization in its region, among which creativity and the symbolic capital of fashion stand out – which includes footwear” . True fashion circularity needs to include sustainable reverse logistics - product returns from consumer to producer - practices. Besides providing great environmental change, a circular economy has the potential to unlock substantial economic opportunities, estimated at USD 650 billion according to the Ellen MacArthur Foundation. In their comprehensive analysis of fashion and circularity, the foundation notes that embracing a circular economy could open the fashion & apparel industry to major benefits across the value chain with: 1) New business models increasing clothing use 2) Safe and renewable manufacturing methods that capture the full value of materials 3) Regenerative sourcing and advanced technologies that decrease the industry’s carbon footprint while maintaining output. Like many efforts to improve fashion & apparel sustainability, it’s easier said than done. Take clothes recycling, for example. The ability to fully capture the value of a clothing item once it’s been used can be an incredibly complex process. It’s not always possible to take pieces back, as manufacturers must determine whether a piece aligns with current recycling practices. To move forward, we need to revalue recycling. Old clothes that can’t be turned into new pieces don’t have to go to waste. They could be repurposed to make alternative products, such as packaging materials. This might create a whole new set of limitations, but we won’t know until we try.
