The importance of comparing what is available from different providers. “You should check that any insurance that your establishment or employer holds, covers all the activities and settings involved in your planned outdoor learning and offsite visits, and covers all those involved including volunteers”, begins the OEAP NG guidance document 4.4c Insurance. This invaluable document is free to download and use – and will be of particular interest to EVCs, heads and managers, outdoor education advisers and visit leaders. There are four potential provider types of insurance, says the document, which states that “If you require insurance, you should compare what is available from different sources.” 1) Many employers negotiate insurance packages and offer them to their establishments to purchase 2) Many local authorities also make these packages available to other establishments in their area 3) The government’s Risk Protection Arrangement for schools 4) Commercial providers. “When comparing insurance, you should study the terms of the policies carefully, paying particular attention to the exclusions and limits of indemnity.” If an insurance company advertises a certain level or type of cover, such as for any effects of COVID-19, you should check the details of this cover in the insurance policy wording. #OEAPNG #outdooreducation https://lnkd.in/eHYa5Jxx
