DOMESTIC FAMILY VIOLENCE, PSYCHOLOGICAL TRAUMA as an INJURY... and what does it mean to be human right? A statistically significant proportion of the people who experience cyber, crypto and financial crime are traumatised by their experiences. Crime has a significant impact on relationship dynamics and can lead to abuse, distress and further injury. THOUGHT LEADERSHIP I frequently look to researchers and thought leaders in law and psychology for diagnostic and therapeutic knowledge. (For transparency, I provide technology support for Calder Psychology. https://lnkd.in/gcraria9) RESEARCHER However, I would like to introduce you to Daniella Leona for helpful insights into the psychology and law surrounding abuse, especially in respect of Domestic and Family Violence (DFV). Many of the abuse behaviours that occur with DFV also occur with Sextortion and other cyber-crimes. Let's become better equipped to help people. PREVENTION AS CURE I encourage my audience to learn about DOMESTIC and FAMILY VIOLENCE or DFV. Having just a little knowledge of DFV could save the life of a person in your workplace or within your sphere of influence. THE NEED TO EVOLVE OUR MINDSET There is a peculiarity of law that seems bizarre to me from a human rights standpoint. The gap between how we do recognise psychological injury in the workplace but not in the other aspects of our lives within other legal relationship types. WE ARE EVOLVING SLOWLY We are implementing protections against ELDER ABUSE, SPOUSAL ABUSE and ABUSE ON WOMEN and CHILDREN, but we haven't yet caught up on how we regulate our responses to B2C TRAUMA that is caused by ORGANISATIONS and (or) by predatorial fraudsters. Victims need to be compensated for mental trauma injuries as if physical. OUR MEN ARE DYING TOO Manipulation and coercion laws go some way towards recognising the numbers of women who die at the hand of a man and are horrific. The dark statistics of deaths presents quite differently when it comes to men. On average 2.4 men die every day across Australia from the impacts of psychological abuses like Parental Alienation. Men who are not violent may internalise their issues and are canary in the coal mine of other kinds of social injustice that may lead to self-harm. This begs the question: WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO BE HUMAN? To my mind, we have a HUMANITY and not a gender problem. We live in an age of increasing selfishness, with a growing array of symptoms around social injustices. Loneliness and sorrow are on the increase along with alarming statistics on disconnection, dissociation and apathy. THOUGHT LEADERSHIP LinkedIn can and should present a lot more thought leadership that focuses on improving our emotional intelligence empathy. As a community, we could work to mitigate the growth of narcissistic and sociopathic traits.
