𝗣𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗙𝗲𝗿𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁𝘀: 𝗥𝗲𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗰𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗼𝗿 𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲? Last week, the first German Fermentation Summit organised by the Food Campus Berlin and Food Harbour Hamburg took place in Hamburg. It was a thoroughly successful and inspiring event with numerous insights into the fields of classic fermentation, biomass fermentation and precision fermentation. I particularly liked the fact that not only the various technological processes were discussed, but that we also gained a deep insight into the various fields of activity in which fermentation plays a role. In the area of future protein alternatives, it was primarily the aspects of the regulatory perspective, technological scaling, product market fit and the industry narrative. The last point was discussed in particular in my panel "Setting the scene: Challenges of technology from different perspectives." Opinions differed on the question of whether a co-existence of alternatives and conventional protein sources will work in the long term in partnership between farmers and tech companies in the context of limited shelf space availability. In my opinion, the dynamic will create a different price/quality structure and take the idea of true cost accounting to a new level. In this context, co-existence is not only desired by consumers, but is also the successful path for all parties involved in the long term. It's the ecosystem, stupid. Building robust ecosystems is crucial for the success of startups. Max Meister’s article in Handelszeitung highlights the current exit challenges and the importance of strong financial health and market readiness. In the US, a well-established exit culture fuels continuous reinvestment, but in Europe and Switzerland, this is just emerging. At the Max Planck Institute in #Stuttgart, a diverse audience from wastewater, drinking water, and academic sectors engaged in insightful discussions on digitalization, climate neutrality, and recycling as new municipal core tasks.   Addressing the future of water management we delved into critical challenges such as leakage detection and reduction, ensuring a reliable water supply, and adapting to new regulatory requirements. The diverse participation, and the critical issues discussed amongst others the latest advancements in leakage detection technology in Germany. As leakage is also a challenge in Germany according to the EUWID | Wasser und Abwasser https://bit.ly/4d4bWK2   💡“Water losses amounting to over 200 liters per hour per kilometer of pipeline in Southern Hesse, BUND Landesverband Hessen e.V. calls on municipalities to urgently renovate aging drinking water systems to prevent wastage and environmental impact” 🚰 The effect of new leaks are increasing due to no timely detection and localization of those. Not only financial damages, also communities are being affected by water losses more and more... Replacing pipes is part of the solution, but having a real-time alarm system for swift action is definitely needed. The event was a blend of knowledge sharing and inspiration, including valuable interactions and collaboration among like-minded professionals. The integration of AI, physics and sensor technology plays a pivotal role in detecting leaks and conserving water, essential for sustainable water infrastructure. Does it also raise your eyebrows when you see a label like "vegan water"? What on earth would make someone think that it might not be? It sounds harmless at first, but such misleading communication can damage other standards that put a lot of effort into helping consumers make the right choices among ocean products. We have explained all these terms in our recent article. Have a read for a better understanding next time you do your groceries!

Really every one of the 60 or so people present spoke out in favour of a combination of state and private sector hashtag #Betreibern within the framework of an open ecosystem. No one has advocated a purely state or private operation of the wallet. A clear sign! " Like in Finland from the outset.. The wallets are already here - so know especially the public sector (also municipalities) should start pushing out the 100ds of identity building credentials they have - especially to SMEs. Then enterprises will start using them both in and out amongst themselves, with employees and citizens. To take the organisation wallet in use took some 10 working days in the Findynet pilot by the Finnish Social security (Kela) and Helsinki public transport (HSL)... To integrate to own data stores was described as a routine matter.. And SMEs do not have to integrate much at all - if at all. Why not use the same wallet as at home -at least to begin with?
