I'm a cheap ferritic steel: heavy, rusty and rough, but at least strong.

Unsettling and exhausting experience. But I had felt all along that I am exactly where I have to be.

Documentation and mechanical design within the NOMAD project

My MSc thesis consists of my participations in this project.
The goal was to:
1.) produce end documentation of the R&D activity which is required by EU
2.) choose the right technologies for a tool that's suitable for in-situ reactor pressure vessel inspection
3.) contribute in the design of a steel framework to manipulate the NDE sensors

3.) contribute in the design of a steel framework to manipulate the NDE sensors
In the first part of my thesis, field conditions (in PWRs and BWRs) were described, highlighting the possible difficulties of field tests and regular use of the sensors. I’ve described currently used NDT methods, to adapt their relevant measurement requirements to Nomad sensors. At the end of the first part, sensor development results of the scientific project partners were gathered and compared to each other.
In the second part, I developed three sensor manipulation concepts for a possible field test in a WWER reactor. All three concepts contained a telescopic rod and rope drive to lower the sensor into the vessel, but the positioning along the cylinder was significantly different in the three cases. I carried out the inspection of the critical load-bearing component, as well as calculations of positioning accuracy (based on the accuracies of the individual components). -
Renewable energy penetration of the existing grid (low voltage)

MSc project (not a thesis, but a one-semester midterm project), done in association with my job at the local DSO (then Elmű-Émász). I was suspended from my DSO job because of the coronavirus, halfway into the project, so I managed to finish it on my own. I've had a contact teacher at the university but the topic is too specific for him to really help. He's a solar panel expert and this project is much rather grid-related. In the end, a valuable state-of-the-art rewiev emerged from the…

I was suspended from my DSO job because of the coronavirus, halfway into the project, so I managed to finish it on my own. I've had a contact teacher at the university but the topic is too specific for him to really help. He's a solar panel expert and this project is much rather grid-related. In the end, a valuable state-of-the-art rewiev emerged from the measurements and the analyzed literature.
The goal was to
1.) measure and calculate the level, tendencies and effects of renewable penetration (especially domestic solar power)
2.) determine cost-effective methods to prevent serious incidents (mostly related to overvoltage) -
Secondary cycle modeling&analysis for future fusion power plants

BSc thesis turned into a more serious project. Presented in poster form at the ISFNT-14 conference in Budapest, in September 2019. Since then, I have not been in the field of nuclear fusion, nor do I plan to return.
The goal was to
1.) Collect and analyze data about viable fusion power plant concepts, from an investor's point of view.
2.) Align and model secondary cycles to these power plant concepts based on the collected data and general industrial parameters. Determine the best…BSc thesis turned into a more serious project. The goal was to
1.) Collect and analyze data about viable fusion power plant concepts, from an investor's point of view.
2.) Align and model secondary cycles to these power plant concepts based on the collected data and general industrial parameters. Determine the best kind of secondary cycle for each power plant concept. (The modeling was done in Cycle Tempo.)
Lessons learned:
1.) The world of "plain science" is not for me. (Later on, I've realised that industrial R&D is what I'm looking for.)
2.) One can't work alone in order to create something new. The partnerships should be based on respect and understanding.
