Here's how you can overcome challenges in Product Engineering as a professional.
New products often require new ways of working, such as scaled agile methods, new skills such as AI/ML and GenAI, new tools such as Virtual Engineering Workbenches powered by cloud technologies. The sooner a product engineering team is introducing these methods and technologies, the sooner they will be able to build and deliver high quality products. It is not only important what you build, but also how you build it, as this will be a key differentiator in the future, more than ever before.

How would you address a situation where developers prioritize functionality over user experience?
I used to be User Interface SW Developer at Nokia, many years ago, therefore I might be biased in my answer. While functionality is finally what matters, what adds value, it is crucial to simplify accessing this functionality, making it discoverable and enjoyable with just few clicks. And this is user interface. So, a good User Interface, simple to use, allows easy and fast discovery of the functionalities offered by a product or a system of products. Once functionality-fans understand this interdependency, the question of prioritization will not be asked anymore, as it is not an either-or, it is a both-together. The best functionality is useless, if it’s not possible to discover it or if it is too sophisticated or time consuming to use it.
