#ProudMoment🎊 Last week marked a major milestone: I handed over the majority of my shares in YSB GmbH, the corporate impact innovation arm of Yunus Social Business in Europe, to the next generation of leaders. Lisa-Katharina Hiery, Lucie Durand and Sergio López Ramos – our incredible current directors – are now the majority owners of YSB GmbH. Lamiya Morshed (on behalf of the Yunus Centre) Karen Hitschke and I will remain shareholders and on the board, supporting this exciting next chapter. A special thank you to Sophie Eisenmann for your invaluable contributions since we started this crazy venture over a decade ago. YSB GmbH was the very first entity we founded within the Yunus Social Business family of companies back in December 2011 – 13 years ago! It feels truly special to see it evolve and thrive. 🤍 A personal reflection: Helping corporations use their capabilities to solve real problems was the reason I got involved with my friend and mentor Peace Nobel Laureate (and now interim PM of Bangladesh 🇧🇩:))Prof. Muhammad Yunus over 15 years ago. While pursuing my master’s at The London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) in London, I heard Yunus speak about his joint venture with Danone producing nutrient-enriched yogurt for families in Bangladesh to combat malnutrition. I was inspired. Just weeks later, I flew to Bangladesh for the first time. The outcome? A joint venture with BASF the world’s largest chemical company, to produce and sell innovative mosquito nets that effectively repel malaria-spreading mosquitoes. This was the start of my journey. ⏩ Fast forward to today, and YSB Corporate Innovation has partnered with dozens of leading companies – IKEA, SAP, Reckitt, McCain Foods, Volkswagen Group, to name a few. Together, we’ve demonstrated how corporations can use their core competencies to tackle real-world challenges. Seeing Lisa, Lucie, and Sergio step into this leadership role makes me incredibly proud. They’ve been with Yunus Social Business for over 5 years, embodying our mission with unmatched dedication. Combined, they bring years of experience in #impact #innovation, consulting and business building from leading companies like Danone, Ericsson, Essilor, and Volkswagen. Their expertise, commitment, and vision will ensure that this mission lives on and grows beyond us as original founders. Onwards and upwards! 🚀 this work is needed now more than ever!

  • 🎁 As the holiday season approaches, we’ve thought of a wonderful gift and reading suggestion that is sure to inspire and engage. Professor Muhammad Yunus's work around the world is guided by the transformative concept of the three zeros, which forms the foundation of his initiatives aimed at creating a world free from poverty, unemployment, and carbon emissions. 📚 This vision is captured in his book, "A World of Three Zeros - The New Economics of Zero Poverty, Zero Unemployment, and Zero Net Carbon Emissions". The publication highlights the global impact of his work, offering valuable insights into the social business model and its far-reaching potential. It features stories of how renowned companies like McCain Foods, Renault, Essilor Group, and Danone have embraced Yunus's economic vision, and outlines the financial tools and legal changes necessary to support a socially-driven future. 🌍 Professor Yunus calls on young people, business and political leaders, and citizens around the world to join the movement and help build a better, more sustainable world. This is the perfect read for anyone who wants to make a meaningful difference in the world.

  • 🚀 Driving Innovation for Global Health & Equality 🌍 Established by the United Nations in 2015, the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) provide a roadmap for addressing global challenges and achieving a more sustainable future by 2030. Among these, SDG 3 - Good Health and Well-Being, SDG 5 - Gender Equality, and SDG 6 - Clean Water and Sanitation are essential for ensuring health equity. 🤝 Yunus Social Business proudly collaborates with Reckitt on the Reckitt Access Accelerator program, a transformative initiative that empowers social enterprises that enable access to health and hygiene and create long-term, sustainable impact. By supporting innovative businesses focused on water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH), as well as sexual and reproductive health (SRH), the Access Accelerator delivers change and helps us reach the SDGs 3, 5, and 6. 🌍 To date, the program has successfully accelerated 18 social enterprises in Nigeria, South Africa, and Brazil. In its current phase, the Reckitt Access Accelerator is welcoming social entrepreneurs from Kenya and Nigeria, further broadening its reach and impact. Through this collaboration, YSB and Reckitt aim to implement sustainable solutions that create lasting change within communities by enabling grassroots initiatives to tap into the resources of Reckitt locally to develop strategies and pathways to scale, partnerships in the ecosystem, helping more people in the communities to live healthier lives. 👀 Stay tuned to discover incredible solutions in WASH and SRH!

  • 🌍 WASH & SRH: A Vital Connection for Health and Equality 🚰 When we think about sexual & reproductive health, clean water and sanitation aren’t always the first things that come to mind—but they should be. The link between Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) and Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) is critical to improving health outcomes and promoting gender equality. When these two areas come together, they create real change in communities, especially for women and girls. Here are some examples of how: 💧 Dignity in Menstrual Health Without access to clean water and safe sanitation, managing menstruation becomes a major challenge, often leading to girls missing school or work. Ensuring proper WASH facilities means women can manage their health with dignity and participate fully in society. 🤱 Safer Childbirth In many regions, healthcare facilities lack proper sanitation, which can put mothers and babies at risk during childbirth. By improving WASH access in healthcare, we can reduce infections and improve maternal health outcomes. ⚖️ Supporting Gender Equality Women and girls are disproportionately affected by poor WASH access, often spending hours collecting water or managing hygiene in unsafe conditions. Integrating WASH with SRH initiatives helps address these inequalities and promotes more opportunities for education and empowerment. At YSB, we are proud of our partnership with Reckitt in the Reckitt Access Accelerator program, which currently focuses on enhancing WASH and SRH initiatives in Nigeria and Kenya. By addressing both areas, we can build healthier, more equitable communities and create lasting change. Stay tuned to learn more about these incredible initiatives!
