• 🌱 Turning Agricultural Research into Practice 🌍 By working closely with partners and local communities, we transform innovations and results from agricultural research into practical solutions. 💪🏽 For example, in Niger 🇳🇪, we use improved millet, sorghum, and cowpea varieties from research by CGIAR and ICRISAT. These crops are better adapted to climate change, helping farmers secure their livelihoods and build resilience. 🧑🏽🌾 🗨️ Our Secretary General Mathias Mogge emphasizes:   "We need more transdisciplinary research and close cooperation between development actors and research institutes in order to make innovations from agricultural research available to smallholder farmers in fragile contexts." #AgriculturalResearch #Sustainability #FoodSecurity #ClimateChange

"We collectively have to do more for the soils and for providing people with good food, with nutritious food." #VACS Champion Welthungerhilfe (WHH) Mathias Mogge encourages more from NGOs, the private sector, and governments, and welcomes them to partner in the VACS movement during UN Convention to Combat Desertification COP16Riyadh. WHH participated in the VACS Champions event organized by the U.S. Department of State.

  • Taking Action Against Desertification 🌍🌱 The COP16Riyadh is a crucial event for us as it aligns directly with our mission to: 🌾 Protect and restore soils  🌿 Promote soil health  🥕 Support opportunity crops that contribute to healthy diets With increasing land degradation making large areas unsuitable for food production, this issue is more urgent than ever. ⚠️ Our General Secretary Mathias Mogge is on-site at Cop16 and had the opportunity to join an event organized by the U.S. State Department as part of their VACS-initiative—"Vision for Adapted Crops and Soils"—in which we are proudly involved. 🤝 He had the opportunity to present our solutions, engage with other representatives, and discuss ways forward for healthier soils. The time to act is now!⏳ #COP16 #Desertification #Soil #SoilHealth #ZeroHunger

  • What can we do about the unbearable suffering we see every day? 👀 We're witnessing unspeakable suffering. Humanitarian needs are rising, with record levels of displacement and a growing global hunger crisis. Climate shocks, fragile economies, and prolonged conflicts are making everything worse. 📉 The 2025 Global Humanitarian Overview (GHO) reflects these grim realities. Next year, an estimated 305 million people around the world will require humanitarian assistance. 🆘 International humanitarian laws are being violated with impunity. Civilians and humanitarian workers are under attack. Schools and hospitals are being bombed, and starvation and sexual violence are used as methods of warfare—devastating communities everywhere. 💥 We must turn the tide together in 2025! ↩️ We urge donors to increase the volume and quality of funding to local and national actors as early as possible in the year. This will enable flexible, timely, and principled humanitarian action. 💰🫱🏽🫲🏿 #InvestInHumanity #GlobalHumanitarianOverview #GHO2025 #HumanitarianAid

🚀 #ImpactWeek in Bilbao is in full swing! 🌍 What do you think? What role can NGOs play in leveraging impact investing to support social businesses and foster lasting, co-developed solutions? 🔥 This year’s theme of the Impact Week—Madness, Boldness, and Brightness—highlights the journey from recognizing global challenges to boldly creating impactful solutions. Today, we kicked off with an inspiring panel discussion featuring our Alliance2015 partners on the role of INGOs in impact investing. 🌱💡 Together, we explored how NGOs, as experts on the ground, are uniquely positioned to help identify high-impact opportunities and push boundaries in how impact is achieved and measured. 💪📊 Thank you, Jan Kever and Jayadeep Akkireddy from our Welthungerhilfe (WHH) Innovation Team for leading a dynamic breakout session. They delved into how NGOs can connect communities, social businesses, and financial solutions to amplify impact. By collaborating with communities and social enterprises on the ground, we can scale efforts and drive meaningful, sustainable change towards Zero Hunger (#SDG2). It’s been fantastic to meet so many impact-oriented people, Dorothea Wawrinka, Srđan Ossowski-Janjušić, and many more who share the vision of sustainable change. The #CartierWomen’sInitiative session was particularly energizing, and listening to these exceptional women pitching their innovative solutions and successful business driving sustainable transformation, inspired me to end a personal note: Thank you to the amazing women I work with and the incredible women I am lucky to call my friends. Your passion, drive, and commitment to change inspire me every day. 💛 Together, we can continue to push boundaries, scale impact, and create lasting, co-developed solutions for a better future. #ImpactWeek #ZeroHunger #SDG2 #ImpactInvesting #NGOs #SocialBusiness #Alliance2015 #SustainableDevelopment #Innovation #WomenInLeadership
