    New AI video tool alert! 🎬 Genmo just dropped their text-to-video model Mochi 1, and I was super curious to put it to the test against community favorite Hailuo Minimax. The verdict? Both really impressed me! Minimax is incredible when it comes to sticking to the prompt, while Genmo brings some pretty cool dynamic motion to the table. There will definitely be a second round battle when (hopefully) Genmo drops their image-to-video model. Which result catches your eye more?

    Climbing out of THE UNCANNY VALLEY: Zemeckis' Polar-Express aus 2004 war ein Flop, weil die 3D noch nicht reif war für Fotorealismus (und man kann den Punkt machen, dass das bis heute so ist). Kai Turner hat ein paar shots daraus mit einer V2V AI ein gutes Stück weiter aus dem Uncanny Valley rausgeholt, als es selbst aktuellste 3D Software könnte. Wie schon im letzten Post behauptet: 3D/VFX plus V2V AI für den letzten Step = maximale Kontrolle + maximale Qualität, ein sehr vielversprechender Workflow.

    James Cameron hat sowas gesagt wie "VFX/3D und AI sind zwei sehr unterschiedliche Welten. Wer immer die Brücke zwischen den beiden findet, gewinnt den Jackpot". Martin Nebelong scheint nahe dran zu sein was den grundsätzlichen Approach angeht: Granulares und zugleich intuitives Arbeiten mit simplen 3D Tools plus einem AI-Layer als Finish, das scheint mir die vielversprechendste Methode zu sein. Vielversprechender als der Versuch von Game Engines, fotorelistisch zu werden; und vielversprechender als der Versuch von AI Tools, ein akzeptabeles Level an Kontrolle zu ermöglichen. Die Kombi aus beidem ist irgendwie am Einleuchtendsten. Oder?

    Granular control over Gen Ai is a must.. object by object consistency, neural assets. More intuitive, fast 3d tools combined with this technology is the way forward imo. Being able to switch between generating things with prompts entirely, to creating important elements by hand with a layer of gen AI as finish. Here I'm using Dreams on my PS5 combined with Gen 3 by Runway. Imagine how incredible it would be to be able to create like this in real-time! #art #3d

    Behind the shots of Snoop Dogg's Music Video: the Process of using AI for animation 🎬💡 I know how frustrating it can be to use AI when you’d like to have a specific movement in the frame. So here is a breakdown to help you understand how to deal with the medium when you need a specific motion to happen. Among other shots of this sequence, the most challenging was the chariot shot: I wanted the chariot to land abruptly on the ground and disappear completely off-frame. So it would ease the transition with the next shot and ensure a smooth visual continuity. After trying several ways that completely failed 🤧 I found a way to get exactly the desired result. Let me show you how --> the solution is in the video. Summary of the process: • Just like with traditional animation - the idea is to break your shot motion into multiple parts and use 2 keyframes everytime to ensure you show what you want on that segment. That way, you control the keyframes and the machine is only your in-betweener 🔥 💡 If you need the subject to be at a specific place in the frame, make the composition as you want it in photoshop and use this as one of the keyframes to drive the shot. 💡 If you need the subject to go from a specific place to another place in the frame, make sure you create theses 2 keyframes first and then use it as a starting frame and an ending frame into Runway, Luma or Kling. 💡 Finally, as more ways to control the outputs are coming every week within the AI tools, it will become a new way for animators to express. It’s necessary to understand the fundamentals of how the motion works to get maximum controls on the outputs. If you don’t have it, treat yourself and buy “the animator’s survival kit” written by Richard Williams 2001. This is a good starting point and It will help you a long way.     En seulement 24h, le Camera Control de Gen3 alpha est devenu un incontournable. L’équipe de Runway a vraiment assuré sur l’UX, offrant une expérience utilisateur ultra fluide. ⚠️ Petite réserve : cette fonctionnalité a encore quelques limites. Les personnages restent souvent figés, avec peu d’animation, ce qui peut freiner certaines utilisations et il faut y aller vraiment mollo sur les valeurs de réglages.
