  • Precision matters—whether you’re baking your favorite cake or collecting blood for testing. 🍰🩸 Imagine you’re using a measuring spoon to get the exact amount of sugar for your recipe. A pinch too much or too little can make a big difference. 🥄 The same is true for #bloodcollection. Volumetric blood collection devices act like those trusty measuring spoons, ensuring just the right amount of blood is drawn for accurate testing. 🎯 By automatically sampling just the right amount of blood, they make the process smoother and more reliable for both patients and #healthcare professionals while increasing accuracy of analytical results. 💡 Because when it comes to health, precision is key. And just like in baking, the right tools make all the difference. 🍴✨

  • It is Universal #HealthCoverageDay, a reminder of the fundamental right to health for everyone, everywhere. 💙 Access to #healthcare should never depend on where you live, your financial situation, or the barriers life might throw at you. Yet, for millions, geographic distance, long wait times, and systemic inequalities still stand in the way. 🚨 This is where innovations in healthcare delivery, like #hometesting, play a transformative role. By enabling people to take charge of their health from the comfort of their own homes, home testing can bridge gaps in access and empower communities that traditional healthcare systems may struggle to reach. 🏡 From early diagnosis to ongoing management of chronic conditions, decentralizing healthcare brings us closer to a world where health for all is more than just an ideal—it’s a reality. But achieving universal health coverage demands more than technology. It requires collaboration, equitable policies, and a shared commitment to ensuring no one is left behind. 🤝 Today, let’s reflect on how we can contribute to a more inclusive and accessible future. Because health isn’t just personal—it’s universal. 🌎

On this #WorldAIDSDay, we join World Health Organization in urging global leaders and citizens to “Take the rights path: My health, my right!” 💪 Health is a fundamental right, yet inequalities continue to hinder progress in ending AIDS. 🚨 It is recently reported that new HIV infections in Germany in 2023 returned to pre-pandemic levels, with an estimated 2,200 cases. While concerning, many experts underscores the potential of self-testing to lower undiagnosed cases—a powerful reminder of the role home testing can play in prevention efforts. 🔍 We believe #hometesting matters because: ✅Self-sampling kits allow individuals to check their health in the comfort of their homes, bypassing stigma and integrating testing into diverse lifestyles. ✅Early diagnosis through accessible testing empowers timely treatment, reducing transmission and improving outcomes. However, challenges remain. Enhancing test reliability and expanding access must go hand in hand. As the experts suggests, we need collaborative efforts among test developers, healthcare providers, and policymakers to improve both the availability and accuracy of home testing solutions. 🌍

In the early 1960s, advancements in diagnostic and treatments implied that early detection could significantly improve the outcomes of many child diseases. However, a formidable challenge stood in the way. 🚨 Drawing blood from newborns proved to be an incredibly difficult task and only several senior doctors possessed the skills required. Moreover, newborns having a mere 80ml of blood made drawing larger samples not only challenging but also dangerous for the children. 👶 #DriedBloodSpot (DBS) testing has been a significant game-changer because this was the first time it was put into clinical routine practice. The method required just a simple prick in the heel, a procedure so easy that it can be performed by virtually anyone. Only a few drops of blood were needed to provide high-quality results. 🩸 Today, advances in DBS technology have made neonatal screening programs a global standard in child #healthcare. This progress highlights the power of innovation to enhance patient outcomes, streamline healthcare processes, and empower healthcare professionals worldwide to deliver better care. 🌎

Sometimes blood needs to be liquid, but sampling it, does not need to be harder than drafting a beer. 🍻 A tap on the shoulder can also deliver a high quality blood sample. 🩸 Don’t get us wrong, we think dried blood spots are great but sometimes you might want liquid blood to analyse certain biomarkers and a finger prick is not enough. This is especially relevant for analysing things that get damaged during the drying process like entire cells or very large proteins. 🔍 As analytical processes for liquid blood samples demand larger volumes a finger stick is not a feasible option to collect the sample. That's where the upper arm blood collection device comes into play. 💡 By applying gentle pressure to the upper arm, these devices draw the necessary amount of blood without the hassle of needles and syringes and offer an easy solution for a high-quality, liquid blood sample. 🚀 Interesting, isn't it? Stay tuned if you would like to see us geeking out on sample collection! 🧩

  • On this World Diabetes Day, we're not just raising awareness - we are focusing on tangible solutions. 💡 In Germany alone, 8.5 million people are struggling with diabetes, and alarmingly, 2 million of these cases remain undetected. (German Center for Diabetes Research (DZD), o.D.) This is part of a global crisis in #healthcare, with Type 2 diabetes mellitus afflicting approximately 425 million people worldwide. 🌍 Type 2 diabetes results from lifestyle and genetic factors, particularly obesity, and inactivity with risks rising with age. Untreated, it can lead to kidney and eye damage, dialysis, blindness, and heightened risk of heart disease and strokes. So #earlydetection and intervention are crucial. 🚨 This is where the importance of at #hometesting comes into focus. A busy lifestyle in younger patients, and mobility issues, especially among the elderly, can make regular doctor visits challenging. At-home testing services emerge as a useful solution and make it possible for conditions like diabetes to be detected at an earlier stage, shedding light on the silent 2 million cases that need attention. 🏡

  • Breast cancer is one of the most common cancers, affecting millions worldwide. October serves as a reminder to raise awareness, support early detection, and advocate for those affected. 🌍 But did you know that breast cancer isn’t a single disease? It consists of various subtypes, each with its own unique characteristics, behaviours, and response to treatment. 🚨 Even within these subtypes, breast cancer is not static—it can change and adapt over time. For instance, some subtypes can evolve during treatment. One important example is the ESR1 mutation. This can emerge during hormone therapy and lead to resistance against certain treatments. The technology for detecting these changes has made significant progress. In the past, such mutations could only be detected through tumor biopsies or autopsy samples. Today, liquid biopsy techniques enable detection through simple blood tests, offering a less invasive and more accessible approach to monitoring and managing treatment resistance. 💡 Let’s keep pushing for awareness and supporting advancements that help us catch breast cancer earlier tailor treatments to each patient —all while making the journey a little easier for those going through it. 💪 #BreastCancerAwarenessMonth

  • What can your proteins reveal that your DNA can’t? 🧬 While genomics has revolutionized our understanding of diseases by studying DNA, proteomics is emerging as the next critical field, focusing on proteins—the body’s real-time messengers. 💡 The human body contains around 20,000 genes, but these give rise to more than 100,000 different proteins, each playing distinct roles. While genes tend to be constant across time, proteins are dynamic, constantly responding to environmental and physiological changes, making them essential for understanding real-time health. 💫 Recent breakthroughs show that by measuring thousands of proteins from a single drop of blood, scientists can uncover changes that might not be visible through genetic analysis alone. 🩸 Proteomics doesn’t replace genomics but adds another dimension to our understanding, offering insights into how our bodies react to diseases, aging, and various health conditions. 🔍 Special thanks to Eric Topol, MD for the inspiration behind this content! 🚀
