oSa Mission and key facts • Founded in 2000 • Worldwide organization • Currently (as of June 2018) 59 member companies: 39 EU, 20 Non-EU • The oSa licenses its members to use its trademark. The oSa® trademark is almost globally protected. The oSa is no accredited certification institute • Aim of the oSa is the establishment of a high safety level of abrasives on the basis of the relevant EN Safety Standards worldwide (EN 12413, 13236 and 13743). Highest possible EN safety requirements are in the fundamental interests of the oSa. The oSa itself is not active in the development of these standards. • The oSa is based on the compliance with the EN Safety Standards and a corresponding self-commitment of the oSa members. • The technical requirements placed on oSa products do not exceed those of the EN-Standards. Additional requirements that oSa imposes on members are related to the availability of test machines and a system of process control. • Besides the Safety Standards, environmental requirements in line with European standards as well as ethical minimum requirements also belong to the required profile of members. The auditors verify the compliance with these requirements on the basis of their observations. • oSa applicants must operate a formal quality management system (ISO 9000 or equivalent) at each of its manufacturing locations, possess all of the necessary test equipment to verify conformance with the standards, possess sufficient design test records, submit samples of products selected by oSa for independent destructive testing, be prepared to undergo a factory inspection conducted by an independent inspector appointed by oSa.
