    📢 New milestone for large-scale 3D printing: There now is a SEAM-Research-Center at Fraunhofer IWU! Using granule, the SEAM extruder (Screw Extrusion Additive Manufacturing) is about 10 times faster than other systems, while the source material is much cheaper.     3D printing can replace load-bearing steel components 💪😯 In this case, Christopher Schlegel and his team at Fraunhofer IWU printed the base feet for a 6t machine, and they only weigh 23kg each! 👉 This makes them much easier to handle than heavy steel components and the production costs are much lower. It's all made possible by the SEAM extruder, in this case processing a PA6 polymer with 40% carbon fibre for extreme strength & load capacity. What steel components would you like to see replaced?
