The rise in smartphone ownership has led to an increasing demand for internet connectivity also on board an aircraft to create a more personalized travel experience. Customers have increasingly high expectations regarding the quality and speed of the internet connection giving airlines an opportunity to differentiate their on-board product and provide a service which has real value to customers. I just arrived back from the 56th African Airlines Association (AFRAA) Annual General Assembly & Summit held in Cairo, Egypt from November 17-19, 2024. This event, hosted by EGYPTAIR brought together over 500 delegates from the aviation industry across Africa, Europe, Middle East, Asia and North America. Thank you EGYPTAIR team for your great hospitality. It was wonderful to reconnect with business partners and friends, discussing the future of African aviation. The summit addressed crucial topics for African air transport development, including safety improvements and route expansion strategies. My personal highlight of this conference was the presentation by Kenya Airways' CEO Allan Kilavuka on their ambitious sustainability roadmap to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050. Their commitment to environmental responsibility is truly inspiring. I feel energized by the collaborative spirit and innovative ideas shared at this event. On 14 November we had the pleasure of hosting the 12th Lufthansa Consulting Alumni Meeting at our offices at Frankfurt Airport! We were delighted that more than 40 alumni joined us for this always very special event. Lufthansa Consulting’s Managing Director Hannes Müller warmly welcomed our former colleagues as well as the participating current employees. Afterwards, our Head of Corporate Office, Bernd Knabe, addressed the important topic of our company’s history and called on the alumni to contribute to the company chronicle of Lufthansa Consulting. This was a special highlight, as our alumni help us with their memories and photos to enrich and further develop this valuable documentation of our Lufthansa Consulting journey. During the event program, our alumni guests also had the opportunity to learn more about the work of our Solution Groups and to gain insightful updates in our sales activities. Finally, the evening was rounded off with the networking part, which all participants always particularly like. In a relaxed atmosphere, former and current employees enjoyed the lively exchange with each other, indulged in shared memories and strengthened the connections within the Lufthansa Consulting community.
