  • Have you ever thought about how differently holidays are celebrated around the world? After a little research in our #teamlidl it soon became clear: Traditions are what often bring people closer together. Do you already know these customs from our Lidl countries? 🎄✨ 🔥That’s pretty hot: In Finland most people go to a sauna on Christmas Eve!  🍽️ Delicious: In Sweden there is the famous “julbord”: a big Christmas buffet with lots of different foods. It offers a nice opportunity to sit together and spend time with each other. 🤞 Hoping for a great fortune: El Gordo, the biggest Christmas lottery, belongs very much to the festive season in Spain. Family, friends and colleagues eagerly await the draw together. Who managed to hit the jackpot? 💸 🎉 Keep your ears open! Christmas in the United Kingdom really goes off with a bang. At Christmas dinner, two people pull Christmas crackers apart; the crackers look like bright candies. They contain small surprises, but the real fun is in the noise.  🕊️ Shared joy: There is a very special tradition in Poland on Christmas Eve: breaking the “opłatek”. A thin wafer is shared with loved ones. Simultaneously, good wishes for the coming year are exchanged. What are typical traditions in your country?   • Upcycling for more sustainable football! ♻️    As an official partner of UEFA EURO 2024™, Lidl supported the unforgettable summer of football by promoting healthier lifestyles. But it didn’t stop there - at Lidl, fostering a more sustainable future is at the heart of everything we do.   • From Glühwein to Cotechino: How Ilias and Alberto celebrate Christmas at home and abroad!    Meet Ilias and Alberto, two #teamlidl colleagues who are both experiencing life in each other’s home country through the Lidl International Job Rotation Program! ❤️💙💛 Ilias, Area Sales Manager at Lidl Italia who is originally from Germany, is now managing three Lidl stores in Milan and Bergamo. Meanwhile, Alberto, Senior Consultant at Lidl International who started his Lidl journey in Italy, is now working with the controlling team at the headquarters in Germany. 🇮🇹🇩🇪 As Christmas approaches, we asked them about their favorite holiday traditions and how they compare to their host country’s customs.   • What a year it’s been for Lidl-Trek! 🚀 As we look back at the incredible 2024 cycling season, we can’t help but feel immense pride for our talented women's and men's teams have achieved. From major victories to personal bests, enduring the heat and the rain, overcoming tough challenges, and always giving their all: every rider has embodied the values that unite our diverse international team: performance, belonging, and trust. These athletes have pushed their limits, showing passion and motivation all while fostering a spirit of belonging. This season, Lidl-Trek lived and breathed the core values of Lidl. As Thomas Rohregger, Director Partnerships at Lidl International and former professional cyclist says: “We couldn’t be more excited about and inspired by the success of Lidl-Trek.   • "Working together as a team made 30 years fly by - it’s why I love my job!"   As Lidl GB celebrates its 30th anniversary, we caught up with Teresa, Customer Assistant at the Swadlincote store at Lidl GB, who has been part of the journey since day one. 🤩    For three decades, Teresa has brought dedication, warmth, and positivity to her role - perfecting her craft as a bakery specialist, building connections with customers who know her by name, and surpassing fundraising targets each year as the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children charity ambassador. 👏    What’s Teresa’s secret to staying motivated? “It’s the team,” she shares. “We support each other, work together, and have built strong friendships over the years.”     Thank you, Teresa, for your incredible commitment!   • “The Lidl culture reflects my attitude: always striving to be better every day” Tim, Project Manager E-Commerce at Lidl France, joined #teamlidl three years ago. Starting as an International Category Manager at Lidl International, he later managed fashion categories at Lidl in Germany. Since May, Tim has been working for the Lidl Online Shop in France as a part of the Expert Exchange program. 🇫🇷 "Standing still is going backwards for me - I always want to keep moving. When I learned that Lidl France was seeking an experienced category manager for their recently launched online shop, it felt like the perfect chance to work internationally and develop further.” Currently, Tim manages the E-Commerce product ranges for multiple non-food categories, for example, Home & Living and Sport & Leisure, ensuring the right products are available at the right time to meet customer needs. “What I enjoy most is finally seeing the results of my work as soon as the goods are put up for sale - it’s a clear sign of the strength of Lidl in navigating even the most unpredictable global challenges.” ❤️💙💛    Tim is also fully embracing life in Paris: “Every time the Eiffel Tower sparkles at night, I’m amazed.   • Lidl GB turns 30! 🥳 Since opening its first store in 1994, Lidl GB has risen to become Great Britain’s 6th largest supermarket, trusted by millions for delivering quality at affordable prices. “Today, 60 % of Great Britain’s households shop at Lidl - and they’re returning more often!” says Lidl GB CEO Ryan McDonnell. 🇬🇧✨ Lidl GB sources two thirds of its core products from British suppliers, demonstrating its commitment to local sourcing. By the end of FY24, Lidl GB is set to invest £21billion in the British food industry, surpassing its original five-year commitment of £15billion by 40 %. This additional £6billion underscores Lidl GB's continued support for British agriculture and food production, enabling suppliers to invest in the future, create new jobs, and grow their businesses. Reflecting on Lidl GB's 30th anniversary, Ryan McDonnell said: “We’ve come a long way in 30 years, but our ambitions have no ceiling.
