🚨 Release alert 🚨 At the GeoSaxonia 2024 during this week we released our new video which explains how GST can support you in your daily work. If you still have questions about it, please let us know in the comments! #subsurface #geology #datamanagement #visualization #3d
Info
GiGa infosystems is a spin-off of the TU Bergakademie Freiberg, Germany. We are developing the software GST -- Geosciences in Space and Time. This software has been one of the outputs of the EU Project ProMine. This involves the storage of the geological 3D models within a database but also the visualization of these models within a web browser without the need of any plugins. We offer professional support in order to integrate GST into existing data infrastructures.

Here at GiGa infosystems, we rely heavily on the quality and maturity of the software ecosystems we use in our day-to-day work to bring GST to all our customers. We cannot reinvent the wheel for everything that has been programmed before, so naturally, we make use of existing and proven solutions to common problems provided by the open-source community. Over the years, we have always tried to give something back: by identifying and opening issues on repositories, contributing pull requests, and supporting open-source projects with funding. We have also released some of our internally used code so that, hopefully, others can benefit from our solutions as well. While our previously released library dealt with seismological data (https://lnkd.in/ewqcimBY) and was thus aimed at a very particular use case, we are happy to share that this time, we have something in store that applies to a broader audience in the developer space: BuFFI - a set of tools to generate ergonomic C++ bindings for a given Rust API. We spent quite some time isolating and polishing this code to be used outside our internal projects, and we are hopeful it will make the lives of developers dealing with this particular issue a lot easier. If you want to learn more, Björn Wieczoreck has given a presentation about BuFFI in its pre-release state at this year's EuroRust. Check out the video below or visit crates.io if you want to try it yourself. 𝗶𝗢𝗦 𝘂𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗻𝗼𝘄 𝘃𝗶𝗲𝘄 𝟯𝗗 𝗴𝗲𝗼𝗺𝗼𝗱𝗲𝗹𝘀 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗱𝗼𝘄𝗻𝗹𝗼𝗮𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗚𝗦𝗧[𝗔𝗥] Hello everyone, we have recently released update 1.1.5 of GST[AR], and while it has a couple of nice improvements in store for everyone who has downloaded the app already, we are convinced that it will be most felt by people that haven't downloaded the app at all. Now, what do we mean by that? With the latest update, we have added "App Clip" support for everyone on iOS. That means that every iOS user can now scan a specific App Clip Code or a normal QR code to view a model 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗱𝗼𝘄𝗻𝗹𝗼𝗮𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 the app first. If you have an iOS device handy, you can give this a go with one of the images below (they include two different models, so make sure to check out both of them). While we at GiGa will try to include these QR codes in more and more of our GST Web instances and products, we believe that this is incredibly useful for many other use cases as well. For example, it could facilitate scientific discourse based on a presentation or a poster at a conference. Or users could quickly and ergonomically access a model on their mobile device by scanning a code that is presented on your website. Our tool to convert and load your own models into the app, "Endpoint creator", has also been updated to generate QR codes that are compatible with App Clips. If you want to learn more about the tool, check out our blog post (https://lnkd.in/eBt_U_jk), or jump right into it and download the latest version https://lnkd.in/gjCYiiGM. If you want to chat about the app or would like to learn more about QR codes and how to use them in your project, just send us a message via here or let us know in the comments. We are looking forward to chat with you!

Day one of EuroRust was such a good time! Jon Gjengset kicked things off with a great talk, and after that, we had back-to-back speakers bringing in fresh ideas and keeping the room buzzing. Over in the side track, things had their own vibe; Rustaceans got together in the Impl. room to dive into some really cool projects. Lukas Wirth and Björn Wieczoreck brought the side stage to life with their talks, and the whole space just felt warmer with everyone’s energy. During breaks, people were everywhere; hanging out at the sponsor booths, checking out the HULKs robo-soccer team, and just catching up. It felt like every corner had its own little gathering. We’re all set for Day 2 today, and if it’s anything like yesterday, it’s going to be a blast!
