A special thank you to Bettina Cadenbach, Ambassador of Germany to Brazil, for her inspiring words. Last week, we had the pleasure of supporting SPRIND - Bundesagentur für Sprunginnovationen – The German Federal Agency for Disruptive Innovation – during their visit to Silicon Valley. With a growing annual budget of over $250 million, SPRIND supports high-risk, cutting-edge technologies across deep tech sectors with non-dilutive grants and equity investments. Over three days, we helped coordinate 15 meetings with top VCs, including some of the most influential names in the Bay Area. The conversations sparked valuable connections, with strong interest in SPRIND’s unique funding approach and its potential to catalyze innovation across borders. We’re thrilled to have played a part in bridging ecosystems and can’t wait to see the collaborations and innovations that follow. Thanks to Olav Carlsen, Till Moldenhauer, and the SPRIND team for letting us be part of this journey!

We took the temperature for Investing in Europe in Silicon Valley last week and are very hopeful. Co-ordinated by German Accelerator, Start2 Group , we met with 15VCs - a16z, Lightspeed, Playground Global, from $60m to $20bn under management presenting SPRIND - Bundesagentur für Sprunginnovationen (The German Federal Agency for Disruptive Innovations), its interest and capabilities. And we found strong interest in European deep tech. That is good news. BioTech, New Computing, ClimateTech, just to mention a few verticals we discussed. Especially smaller California VCs see Europe as a chance for solid research backed opportunities, less competition for deal flow and hence lower valuations. And when I say "smaller" - I mean VCs with up to $1bn under management - everything is relative. 😃. After my 10 years in Silicon Valley as CFO in the early 2000', I have to say, while the focus and some of the players have changed, the momentum is still there. A heavy deep tech machinery - which we at SPRIND are happy to help mobilizing for our local projects. Thank you German Accelerator for your support.
