Driving Innovation with Digital Skills for women: Rama Devi Women’s University and DS2S partner for Future-Ready Workforce! We are excited to announce the exciting collaboration between Digital Skills to Succeed in Asia (DS2S) project and Rama Devi Women’s University (RDWU) in Odisha that is set to mainstream innovative digital skills education in women’s higher education institutions in India! 🌐 Through this partnership, we are launching innovative micro-credentials in Artificial Intelligence, Data, and Digital Entrepreneurship— equipping students with practical digital skills aligned with real-world industry needs. We had a fascinating discussion with students about the digital and AI tools they currently use, the challenges they face, and their interest in pursuing an AI course. Their enthusiasm and honest feedback were invaluable. 🙌 Equally enriching was our interaction with 17 faculty representatives from almost every department. Together, we brainstormed ways to bring the partnership to life, paving the way for exciting collaborations ahead. Here’s what this partnership brings: ✨ Challenge-Based Micro-Credentials: Together with industry leaders, we are creating hands-on courses that align with real-world challenges, preparing students with practical, in-demand digital skills. 💡 Strengthening Institutions: By supporting faculty with advanced digital competencies, we are fostering innovative teaching methods. 🌍 Building Regional Networks: RDWU is now part of a dynamic network of leading universities across India, Germany, Vietnam, and Bangladesh—all working to revolutionize digital skills education. Prof. Aparajita Chowdhary, Vice-Chancellor of RDWU, emphasized the critical importance of digital skills for women, particularly those who have been distanced from the workforce. She highlighted the growing need for leveraging big data in social sciences to address pressing issues and foster a healthier, more equitable society. “Although the university has 100% computer literacy there is still a need to stay up-to-date with job-relevant digital skills and faculty development for the same, especially with respect to subjects like AI is essential.” This is a first major step together strengthening RDWU-DS2S partnership — stay tuned as we shape the future of digital skills education together with RDWU. #DS2S #DigitalSkills #InnovationInEducation #AI #Entrepreneurship #Collaboration #GIZ #RDWU #Bhubaneswar #Odisha Preyansi Mani Mehar Kaur Sabrina Garcia Chani Raj Anjali Singhania

Future-Ready Learning for Careers in the Digital Age
Info
The Digital Skills to Succeed in Asia (DS2S) project, commissioned by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), aims to enhance digital skills among young university students, particularly among women, in Bangladesh, India, and Viet Nam to position them for success in the job market and enhance careers in the digital era. The project employs a collaborative approach involving various stakeholders such as universities, private sector partners, organizations, and government agencies across these countries to achieve the following outputs: 1) Establishment of a Digital Skills Network in Asia and creation of Digital Skills country hubs: These hubs serve as platforms for fostering lateral learning and exchanging best practices; 2) Enhancement of faculty capabilities: DS2S focuses on equipping faculty members with advanced digital competencies and innovative teaching methodologies, including smart learning and design thinking; and 3) Development of short program courses and micro-credentials: DS2S offers foundational and advanced courses in the area of responsible use of artificial intelligence, data, and digital entrepreneurship for non-tech students. By collaborating with German universities, DS2S ensures that these courses meet global standards and are recognized by employers. Additionally, partnering with the private sector enables the design of hands-on, challenge-based micro-credentials, ensuring that participants acquire industry-relevant skills that are relevant in the digital job market.

Launching the Future of Digital Skills: The DS2S Network 🌐 In the heart of Bangalore, where technology innovation is a way of life, we launched the DS2S Network—a dynamic partnership uniting universities and industry leaders from Bangladesh, Germany, India, and Vietnam. Our shared mission? To equip students with digital skills that not only match today’s workforce demands but also anticipate the needs of tomorrow. 🌍💻 The DS2S Network is a collaborative ecosystem with a purpose. With a newly formed Steering Committee and specialised working groups focused on AI, Data, and Digital Entrepreneurship, we are not merely teaching digital skills; we are building a framework for sustainable, transformative education. This is a place where faculty, students, and industry professionals collaborate to make digital skills universally accessible and adaptable across disciplines. Industry giants such as CISCO, IBM, SAP, Tech Mahindra Foundation, Lenovo, and Capgemini joined us in Bangalore, where we charted a path for digital skills in non-tech fields. We are pioneering tomorrow’s education through innovative models like the 60/40 learning approach. This unique model combines 60 percent hands-on, practical learning with 40 percent classroom instruction, allowing students to personalise their educational journeys with targeted micro-credentials. In every discussion, one truth was clear: digital skills are not confined to technology— the DS2S Network’s approach empowers students to build their expertise through a modular learning path, addressing digital skills gaps in ways traditional education often does not. The Micro-Credential Strategy Canvas ensures that every micro-credential meets job market demands and aligns with industry needs. What sets DS2S micro-credentials apart? Gamified, interactive learning experiences—students acquire complex skills through adventure quests, survival games, and agile frameworks like eduScrum and Design Thinking. These immersive activities turn learning into an engaging journey, where students unlock new skills. 𝐀𝐥𝐥 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐤, 𝐍𝐨 𝐏𝐥𝐚𝐲? 𝐎𝐫 𝐍𝐨 𝐏𝐥𝐚𝐲, 𝐀𝐥𝐥 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐤? Let's Reimagine Learning Ethical #AIGovernance Through Play! Ever heard of learning in classrooms through games? Innovative teaching methods are on the rise, and #gamification is leading the charge. Gamification transforms learning by making learning more interactive, engaging, and practical - immersing learners in real-world scenarios and problem-solving. We recently hosted a class at the International Summer School on Platforms and Democracy. Led by Abeer Kapoor of SMART NGO, 30 law students from Brazil, India, and Germany explored AI ethics through gamification. The students dove into AI ethics through two unique games: Game 1: Lost and Found in Translation Inspired by John Searle’s Chinese Room experiment, students exchanged and translated love song paragraphs across different languages, highlighting the crucial role of context and cultural nuances. Game 2: Strategic Simulation Teams competed for resources, fostering strategic thinking and ethical decision-making. Students learned about AI ecosystems and drafted policies on compute, data governance, and more. Representing fictional countries with specific budgets, they engaged in a bidding process for AI companies and policies. Through strategic negotiations, teams built inclusive, sustainable, and ethical AI ecosystems, drawing real-world parallels. 🌍📊 So, all work, no play? Or no play, all work?
