20,000 visitors at it-sa – Home of IT Security – and a packed audience for our talk on OT SECURITY IN ACTION, co-hosted with Gapfruit AG at the Bechtle partner booth 🙌 The topic is a hot one: How can industrial companies ensure maximum availability for their machines while integrating IT & OT focusing on security? CTO Sid Hussmann and Stefan Hudelmaier provided some compelling answers to this question 👇 “Digitalizing the OT world is a challenge,” Sid opened the discussion, and together with Stefan, they outlined the key security pain points for industrial companies and how to overcome them.   Top challenges: 1️⃣   Maximum availability requires IT/OT convergence 2️⃣   Mindset clash: "Ship fast, fix later" vs. "Never touch a running system" 3️⃣ Data ownership: Customer vs. Manufacturer 4️⃣   Brownfield setups 5️⃣   Increasing cyber attacks And now what? The experts used a real-world example of connecting an industrial machine to the cloud via a Bechtle Secure Edge Gateway. From a security perspective, the gateway is the first line of defense towards untrusted networks where the industrial equipment’s availability and integrity must be protected. And that’s no small task. The solution: Gapfruit developed an operating system where each component, such as a network driver, operates in isolation from the rest of the system. This ensures maximum security and resilience over a long period of time.
