We had the privilege to host Lena Troufanov at Cymotive, along with colleagues and friends from her son’s, Sasha Troufanov's workplace, for a heartfelt #Coffee4Sasha gathering. The Troufanov family immigrated from Russia 25 years ago and settled in Kibbutz Nir Oz. On October 7, Vitali, Sasha's father was murdered in the kibbutz, his mother Lena, grandmother Irena, Sasha himself and his partner Sapir were kidnapped to Gaza. With no other relatives in Israel, Sasha's friends have become the family’s voice, advocating for Sasha’s safe return and keeping his spirit alive through initiatives like #Coffee4Sasha. For those unfamiliar with the tradition, Sasha has maintained a daily coffee break at 3 pm for over a decade with his colleagues. However, for the past five months, Sasha has been unable to enjoy this simple pleasure as he remains in captivity. Last Tuesday, we gathered at our offices to honor Sasha's tradition with Lena, Shiri & Ilan, listening to the them talk about Sasha, captivity, hope, and of course, sharing coffee, in solidarity with him and his family. Together, we continue to hold Sasha in our thoughts, sending him strength and positive energy until he’s back home home. #Coffee4Sasha #BringSashaHome #bringthemhomenow

Some days intertwine happiness with sorrow, tradition with reality, the good with the bad. Last Wednesday, Cymotive experienced a poignant blend of emotions through two contrasting events, that seem to reflect our lives lately. As part of the activities we initiated to mark 100 days to October 7, we were truly honored to host the Brodetz family at Cymotive. Their compelling story has become one of the strongest symbols of the war. Avihai, shot and wounded during the October 7 massacre while fighting off terrorists at Kfar-Aza, tirelessly fought for the release of his wife Hagar and their three young children Ofri (10), Yuval (8) and Oriya (4), who were kidnapped and held captive in Gaza for 51 days, together with 4 years old Abigail Idan, whose parents were murdered that day and who became like a fourth daughter for Hagar amid adversity. From his solo protest in the Kirya for days, to international media interviews, Avihai fought tirelessly to bring his family back home. During this time, and for 51 days, Hagar was held hostage in Gaza, with the children, coping with the unknown fate of Avihai and managing extreme captivity conditions. She not only cared for her 3 children, but also took on the responsibility of caring for Avigail, who was orphaned on that tragic Saturday. Hagar faced so many uncertainties - not knowing when the next meal would come, if and when they’ll be released, and the overarching concern of their survival until liberation. Meeting this amazingly courageous family was both inspiring and heart-wrenching, especially meeting the 3 young children who saw and experienced something no human, let alone no child should ever experience. Their visit left a deep impression on all of us at Cymotive, listening to both Avihai’s story and ordeal and then hearing Hagar’s experience being in captivity with her 3 children for so long. The meeting prompted so many thoughts and questions, about the fragility of life, perseverance, love, anger, and the human spirit facing such atrocities, and mostly, Avihai’s unwavering call to bring all 136 hostages back home now, before it’s too late. Later that day, we transitioned to a celebration for Tu B'Shvat, embracing the mitzva of eating dried fruits and savoring the bounties of our land. Amidst the festivities, we found some comfort in the reminder that better days will come, akin to the renewal of nature and the blossoming of flowers—both in our nation, and within our hearts. #bringthemhomenow
