On October 30th, we had the privilege of hosting a Career Empowerment Session in collaboration with the amazing team at HelloFresh. 🎉 The morning kicked off with Ibtehal Hussein, who captivated us with insights about HelloFresh's global journey, their inclusive workplace culture, and invaluable advice on 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗯𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 and interview success. 🌍💼 To top it all off, Kave Bulambo (She/Her) Bulambo provided personalized 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘂𝗺𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝘃𝗶𝗲𝘄𝘀 for attendees, sharing actionable tips that can truly elevate anyone’s application strategy. 📄✨ This session wasn’t just about career tips. German Accelerator Goes Africa! 🌍 Yesterday morning, Vice Chancellor Robert Habeck shared exciting news in his opening remarks at the German-African Business Summit (GABS) 2024. German Accelerator is expanding to Africa! ✈️ Soon, we’ll be supporting German startups in their global expansion efforts, with Africa becoming the 5th continent on our map. Together with initiatives under Startup Germany - EXIST - Existenzgründungen aus der Wissenschaft/GCCC, StArfrica - Startup Germany-Africa, and Digital Hub Initiative - we brought 20 startups to GABS, giving them the opportunity to showcase their innovations, engage in valuable discussions with Robert Habeck, and take part in plenty of networking opportunities. It took me decades to understand how I can advocate for my native country the #DRC 🇨🇩 Little did I know that the tech industry where I’ve spent 10 years of my career would propel me towards this journey. Today’s greatest tech inventions are powered by minerals from one of the poorest countries in the world. #Cobalt is used in every EV and smart electronics that poses a rechargeable battery. The #DRC supplies 70% of the cobalt the entire planet combine. The EU will deploy 30 million EV by 2030 in the quest to reduce emissions by 55%. To support this ambition the EU will need 3.5 million charging spots containing 8.8 million chargers. Today’s most valuable companies sell products that contain cobalt sourced from #DRC. We call them innovative and pioneering. For once in history let’s consider our Ethics and Morals. Let’s give a chance to the children of #DRC to have food to attend school and to have peace. It’s been five days in beautiful Cape Town 🇿🇦 and for the first time I haven’t been able to write here because the level of impact every day is having on me is deep. My dear Anja Tambusso-Ferraz Representative of the German Chamber of Commerce in Cape Town brought us Berliners, Hamburger and Thuringians together to explore the Tech Ecosystem and business landscape in Southern Africa. Not only are we exploring but we are connecting with the people we all need to move forward in business and in making an impact in society using technology. Being in Cape Town during the Africa Tech Festival is the best choice we could have ever made because the world of Tech and business is here. 2025 dates are out and I am definitely coming back. 🌍✨ An exciting first day in Cape Town! ✨🌍 We are happy to announce the arrival of our business delegations from the State Development Corporation of Thuringia - LEG and STIFT - Stiftung für Technologie, Innovation und Forschung Thüringen, alongside BlackInTech Berlin and AiDiA - Afrodeutscher Startup Pitch Hamburg! Their first day in Cape Town was nothing short of spectacular. The day kicked off with a short briefing, great vibes and dynamic interactions within the delegation, fostering new connections and collaborations. The first highlight, a visit to UVU Africa,was truly inspiring, with vibrant round table discussions with CAPACITI,Injini , UVU Bio (including a live call with their Rwanda Office), and UVU Accelerate. The focus was on empowerment, incubation, and acceleration programs for young talents in South Africa and across the continent.
