Day 2 of the ASAM International Conference #AIC2024 is in full swing at the House of Communication in Munich. Yesterday, we kicked off the day with a great presentation by BMW on the business benefits of standards from an OEM perspective. After some inspiring presentations that set the scope for the conference, we were extremely proud to have Dr Florian Herrmann, Head of the Bavarian State Chancellery & Bavarian Minister of State for Federal Affairs, joining us for a keynote and a panel discussion. Today we continued with lively conversations, interesting presentations and inspiring demos. We thank all visitors, poster lecturers and presenters for making this such a great and successful event!!! We hope you all enjoyed the conference as much as we did! The 2024 ASAM International Conference has come to a close, following two days of insight and demonstrations at the House of Communication in Munich. Just a few highlights from Day 2 included: 💫 ASAM's CTO Benjamin Engel set the scene, presenting a recap of the previous day's topics and highlighting the interoperability of standards as well as fostering an environment where they work together. 💫 With demand for mobility growing, Andreas Richter from Volkswagen Group encouraged engineers to apply learnings across domains, such as from automated driving to railways, thereby making systems more robust and saving money on maintaining infrastructure. 💫 Harsha Jakkanahalli Vishnukumar from Akkodis posited an AI core methodology to extract scenarios - AI was used to cluster the scenarios, look for spots with no scenario and create a new one. Harsha explained that if a sample is well trained, it can create a new scenario. 💫 According to Yves Peirsman from Deontic, GenAI is powerful in automotive development, writing better requirements; it can ensure OpenDRIVE is also drivable, using natural language inputs to see the accuracy of the LLM in generating the scenario.  💫 Steve Schwinke from Sibros looked at how flexible, scalable SOVD (service oriented vehicle diagnostics) is important for enabling SDVs. 💫 The standardization of the data pipeline and its importance for SDVs was analysed by Mark Singer from eSync Alliance. It's been a fascinating first day at #AIC2024, with discussions ranging from 'Old standards for new applications - How ASAM ODS can boost efficiency in engineering, now and in the future'; 'synthetic data generation with scenarios in ASAM OpenSCENARIO XML'; 'AI-driven end-to-end synthetic data simulation and ASAM OpenX for autonomous driving,' to 'ASAM OpenX standards for off-road applications'. Breakout sessions included 'from simulation to real' with contributions from vendors 51Sim, Foretellix and Japanese deep-tech startup Tier IV. A few insights from today: Tille Karoline Rupp, Head of Simulation at Porsche Engineering spoke on using large language models to generate critical driving situations for virtual and hybrid ADAS/AD testing, particularly how to use GenAI to keep up with complexity and demand for automation. Rene Gosspietsch from BMW Group gave an OEM perspective, among other things assessing whether standards are creating additional value and if they make a difference to the customer. Meanwhile Dr. Florian Herrmann, Head of the Bavarian State Chancellery & Bavarian Minister of State for Federal Affairs presented a keynote, notably saying "standards help to bridge the gap between regulations and industry."
