Appellate Division Chief
The Law Office of the Public Defender Matthew Metz seeks well qualified applicants for the position of Appellate Division Chief (location Daytona Beach) that will be responsible for effectively managing up to thirty (30) appellate attorneys and staff.
The right person for this position must have significant criminal appellate and office management experience.
The Appellate Division Chief will work closely with the Public Defender to provide supervision and training of the Appellate Division.
Responsibilities
Ensure law office goals and objectives are being met by each employee and provide constructive feedback.
Train new employees in office standards and procedures as well as review employee performance.
Create long-term strategic planning for the office and regularly communicate the office needs with the Public Defender.
Effectively managing up to thirty (30) attorneys and staff.
Maintain a personal caseload.
Qualifications
Superior written and oral communication skills.
Demonstrated significant experience and expertise in handling appellate litigation.
Experience in organizing and presenting continuing legal education courses.
A minimum of 7 years of criminal law experience.
Ability to communicate effectively with peers and with management.
Board Certification and Death Penalty Qualified preferred.
Pay commensurate with experience, minimum $100,000.
