Job Title: PMD - Incoming Inspector EEO Classification: Operatives
Department: Parachute Maintenance FSLA Status: Hourly, Non-Exempt
Reports to: PMD Team Leader
Position Summary: Responsible for identifying defects, damage, or deficiencies of a customers parachute through a methodical step-by-step inspection
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Maintains good working knowledge of, and follows all related SOP’s and Work Instructions.
Inspects returned canopies and notes any and all defects, damage and deficiencies in written form throughout the inspection procedure; helps to evaluate whether noted defects, damage or deficiencies are pertinent to canopy’s airworthiness for customer consideration and information.
Inspects and maintains demo canopies and accompanying equipment such as risers, deployment bag, and pilot chute.
Washes canopies, removes or buffs grommets on sliders, installs risers and other equipment for testing purposes as required.
Performs other inherent duties related to but not limited, to the above.
Education and Experience Requirements
High School diploma or GED Equivalent required.
Previous Inspection experience in manufacturing environment preferred
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Must be able to read, understand and follow written Standard Operating Procedure Specifications that are written in the English language.
Visual acuity necessary to visually inspect canopies of defects.
Must be detail oriented.
Must be able to use measuring devices and have good math skills.
Must pass the Performance Designs, Inc.
Light Industrial Skill Test
Must pass the Purdue Pegboard Dexterity Test.
Physical Requirements
Finger, hand and arm dexterity crucial for manipulating canopy parts.
Visual acuity necessary for inspection of canopies.
Ability to lift materials weighing up to 50 pounds
Must have legible handwriting to complete required documentation.
Must be able to stand for extended periods of time.
Bending and stooping required when lifting canopies onto workstation
Reaching required when inspecting canopies on hanging racks
