These golden cobs are unlike any ears of corn you’ve ever seen. Make a bushel to line the center of your Thanksgiving table—or any other autumnal celebration—with a haute harvest centerpiece. Or, if you’re feeling crafty, place one on every plate so guests can bring their golden ear home. This crop is filled with gold Sixlets candy, but you can get creative and fill your crepe-paper husks with Reese’s Pieces (for Indian corn), caramel corn, popcorn, or any other kind of “kernels.”
What You’ll Need:
- Corn Cob Husk Template
- Gold crepe paper
- Scissors
- Clear cone bags
- Sixlets candy or other filling
- Tape
- Gold ribbon
How-To:
Step 1 Print Corn Cob Husk Template, cut out, and trace five separate husks onto gold crepe paper. Make sure the grain of the crepe paper runs top to bottom of the template
Step 2 Cut out your five corn husk “leaves,” gently pulling the sides of each husk out to make it wider
Step 3 Fill a cone favor bag with candy, popcorn, or other filling three quarters of the way full, taping down the pointy end to make a square tip.
Step 4 Tie open end closed with tape or a rubber band.
Step 5 Wrap the bag in your five husk “leaves,” leaving one side open and secure at the top with a ribbon, making sure your rubber band closure is covered.
