中華人民共和國香港特別行政區(收聽:普通話發音,粵語發音)與澳門同是中華人民共和國所轄兩個特別行政區。它由位於珠江口、南中國海上的香港島,與中國大陸連接的九龍半島和新界地區,以及附近的262個小島組成[2]。東北部東平洲以北海域及北部深圳河對岸是廣東省深圳市;水域以南是廣東省珠海市萬山群島。香港自秦始皇三十三年(前214年),秦朝派軍平定百越,置南海郡起,除了數次分裂時期外,皆為中原皇朝領土,直至1842年至1898年間因戰敗被清朝政府分批割讓及租借予英國,至1997年7月1日香港結束殖民統治,整體主權移交中華人民共和國。

香港係喺華南嘅一個城市,三面環海。南面到南中國海,西面係珠江,東面隔住大鵬灣,北面隔住深圳河,同中國大陸連埋。1997年開始,香港行政上係中華人民共和國嘅特別行政區,叫中華人民共和國香港特別行政區。香港塊地原本屬於大清帝國。1841年,英國響鴉片戰爭後佔領咗香港島,響島嘅北面起咗個域多利亞城。清廷響1842年正式割咗個島畀英國。另外響1860年,再割埋九龍半島。1898年,英國又借埋新界99年,於是三個地區加埋就係依家嘅「香港」。咁英國響1997年約滿嗰年,就將新界,連同本身都已經係英國領土嘅香港島同九龍半島嘅主權一次過交番晒畀中華人民共和國。

English Hong Kong - Hong Kong Special Administrative Region
The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region is one of the two special administrative regions (SARs) of the People's Republic of China), the other being ► Macau. The territory, comprising over 260 islands, is situated on the eastern banks of the Pearl River Delta on the southeastern coast of the People's Republic of China, facing the South China Sea in the south and bordering Guangdong Province in the north.

History maps

This section holds a short summary of the history of the area of present-day Hong Kong, illustrated with maps, including historical maps of former countries and empires that included present-day Hong Kong.

In 1841 the United Kingdom occupies Hong Kong Island and a year later China cedes Hong Kong Island to the United Kingdom, that establishes in 1843 the crown colony of Hong Kong. In 1860 China cedes the Kowloon Peninsula and Stonecutters Island to Hong Kong and in 1898 the United Kingdom leases the New Territories from China for 99 years. Between 1941 and 1945 Japan occupies the colony. In 1997 the whole colony is returned to China as a special administrative region.
