Description
The Contracts Analyst serves within the Technology Commercialization Office (TCO), under the direction of the Manager-Contracts.
Essential functions include drafting, reviewing and negotiating a high volume of Confidential Disclosure Agreements (CDAs), Material Transfer Agreements (MTAs), Tangible Property Agreements (TPAs), Inter-Institutional Agreements (IIAs), and Data Use Agreements (DUAs) with academic and corporate collaborators.
Serves as the lead during all stages of the contract negotiation process.
Establishes and maintains relationships with university researchers, laboratories, and divisions to become knowledgeable about research interests.
Exhibits customer service, responsiveness and professionalism in all interactions.
Conducts educational presentations and similar outreach activities to encourage use of university commercialization services and engagement with Technology Commercialization Office and Ohio State Innovation Foundation.
Works closely with the Director, Intellectual Property and Contracts; Manager, Contracts; and entire Contracts team to drive continuous operational and service delivery improvement.
Collaborates with other university departments to achieve efficient contract negotiation and management, intellectual property protection, and data protection.
Required Qualifications
Associate's Degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
Proven experience with contract negotiation.
Ability to negotiate agreements related to technology commercialization on behalf of Ohio State.
Ability to make independent decisions and risk assessments while also being team-oriented and seeking input when necessary.
Displays effective problem-solving skills and the ability to share those skills and knowledge with others.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to present complex material in a concise and professional manner to a wide variety of individuals and groups.
High emotional intelligence.

Desired Qualifications
At least 2 years of proven contract negotiation experience.
At least 2 years of experience and knowledge of federal regulations.
Experience with research compliance in industry, government, or academia desired.
Paralegal experience.
