*Job Description*
• Partner with business teams to provide support and suggestions to achieve business goals, including but not limited to legal and code of conduct training, counseling and providing tools to support business initiatives, problem solving, business behavior analysis, and risk management.
• Provide guidance on Intellectual Property matters, including continuous improvement of IP infringement detection and investigation practices, and IP disputes management.
• Create and improve templates & legal guidance on business conducts; work with other teams to draft and review contracts of significance; provide legal advice on employment and commercial questions; work with outside lawyers to resolve disputes in contracts, employment, etc.
• Build up expertise in emerging topics such as data protection & security, trade compliance & export control, business continuity, and growth sustainability.
Understand and keep up to date with all federal, state and local laws that pertain to company's businesses; Ensure all business actions are compliant.
• Leverage American Business Team, internal collaboration networks, and outside resources to build up Legal know-how, deliver training, and to support employees' self-learning & self-service.
• Support other offices in other countries/regions in America (i.
e.
Canada, Mexico ) when needed.
This role will report to the Director of Compliance.
*Qualifications*
* Educational Background: Must have a Juris Doctor (JD) degree, earned through a law school accredited by the American Bar Association (ABA).
* Professional Certification: Must have passed the bar exam in at least one state (Ohio or California preferred) to gain the license to practice law in that state.
* Work Experience: Minimum 3 years of related work experience in providing legal advice in a corporation environment.
* Skills: Extensive legal knowledge, critical thinking and problem-solving abilities, excellent negotiation skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Good organizational and management capabilities, with the ability to work under pressure.
* Professional knowledge: In-depth understanding of legal areas such as corporate, contract, employment, intellectual property law, and familiarity with business operations and relevant regulations.
* Integrity and Professional Ethics: Must maintain a high degree of integrity and professional ethics to safeguard the interests of the company and clients.
* Chinese skills is a plus.
