PURPOSE OF THE JOB
Product Stewardship is a mission critical function at Owens Corning.
The successful candidate will be a strategic business partner providing global counsel to the enterprise.
This role provides legal support to all three Owens Corning businesses and several corporate functions.
This person will act as a key partner to product developers, marketing teams, science & technology professionals, product sustainability and quality leaders.
They will provide valuable guidance on a wide variety of product stewardship issues and serve as a front-line subject matter expert on regulations and OC standards that impact our products and businesses.
This person will also partner closely with law department peers, particularly in the areas of Regulatory Law and Government Affairs, Litigation, Sourcing and Business Counseling.
Reports to: Director, Product Stewardship and Compliance Span of Control: Individual Contributor with opportunity for leadership experience in the future JOB RESPONSIBILITIES Be a trusted legal advisor and business partner Continuously builds an intimate knowledge of our Company, including in-depth product knowledge, internal structures, and business strategies, to ensure that all guidance is provided within an appropriate context.
Develops training, guidance materials and tools for our business professionals that builds capacity and competency to allow them to be self-sufficient and effective decision makers in their roles.
Communicates legal risk, compliance issues, and strategy to leaders in a timely and effective way and advises business leaders on mitigation measures.
Facilitates execution of Product Stewardship strategy that ensures compliance with policies and laws across all business units and functions, while enabling quick and effective decisions.

Provide creative and practical solutions to drive enterprise strategy Advise and counsel business partners on a broad spectrum of stewardship issues and projects including, but not limited to, product development, management of change for OC products and raw material inputs, advertising and marketing claims, fiber health, hazard communication, human rights, conflict minerals, product advocacy, and customer inquiries.
Supports the Director, Product Stewardship in managing risk within the defined scope of responsibility.
This includes early proactive involvement with stakeholders to assess risk in potential disputes and advising on strategic alternatives.
When appropriate, this may also include effectively managing outside counsel on product stewardship, regulatory compliance and customer claims, ensuring they understand and execute on actions needed for OC success.
This may include: Conducting factual investigations and witness interviews Overseeing document collection and review Advising Company management and stakeholders as to the anticipated legal, reputation, and product liability risk arising from violations of product regulations or OC internal standards.
Supports the Company’s growth initiatives and product stewardship’s purpose by facilitating M&A due diligence and post-acquisition integration issues in partnership with R&D and colleagues in the legal department.
JOB REQUIREMENTS MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience working as a regulatory, environmental, litigation attorney, preferably in a law firm.
Juris Doctorate and Bar Membership in at least one state required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES: Regulatory, Environmental, Compliance, Product Development or Stewardship Law Expertise.
Brings relevant law expertise to the legal function and can communicate legal challenges to legal and business leaders.
Develops practical solutions to complex compliance and regulatory matters.
