Description Advanced-level clerk duties for the Juvenile Deputy Clerk include Juvenile case management, conducting legal and factual research, full maintenance of case records (physical and electronic), and working closely with and regularly communicating with the public, community partners, and key stakeholders.
Duties Prepare written reports and other correspondence.
Maintain all court filings and case records-physical and electronic.
Follow up with all required case activities pre/post hearing.
Process motions and complaints.
Serve parties for hearings.
Schedule hearings with legal counsel.
Conduct legal and factual research.
Cross-check and validate information.
Organize and analyze information.
Complete data entry into case management system with attention to detail.
Manage the Court docket.
Able to work in a fast-paced environment and handle stressful situations.
Greet the public professionally in person, via phone, and email.
Respond to requests for information in a timely manner.
Receive and apply payments of fines, costs, and restitution.
Disburse funds.
Serve as Bailiff, when needed.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
Paralegal certification or willingness to obtain.
Strong Administrative writing skills, reporting skills, scheduling, organization, time management, presentation skills, equipment maintenance, travel logistics, verbal communication, good memory power.
Works well as a member of a team, possess a high patience level, capable of working extra hours when needed.
Proficiency with the following: MS Suite, Adobe, Henschen, Case Management Systems.
Supplemental Information Juvenile Deputy Clerk will be thoroughly committed to building community capacity for juvenile justice reform and prioritizing family and community-driven reform.
Juvenile Deputy Clerk will possess the following characteristics: Ability to connect with and provide empathetic, nonjudgmental, and culturally and linguistically competent support to families Understanding of the juvenile justice system and its processes; understanding of other systems including education, mental health, child welfare, etc.
Ability to maintain professionalism while interfacing with both system employees court staff and community stakeholders Experience providing peer coaching and support to families either in a formal paid capacity, or informally as volunteers Ability to maintain the confidentiality, dignity, and respect for all families navigating the juvenile justice system Display reasonable and sound judgment including in times of crisis Willingness to promote positive youth development model, resiliency, other Court-endorsed models, and race equity throughout Court programs Makes sound, well-informed, and objective decisions promptly.
Takes action that is consistent with available facts, constraints, and probable consequences.
Applies both rational and creative processes to identify unknown root causes of problems.
Based on the situation, decides the best course of action, implements the solution, and evaluates the outcome.
Calculates and evaluates the long-term consequences of a decision.
