A diverse group of us, ranging in age from 16 to 80, get together to play volleyball. This weekly routine is more than just a sporting hobby - it's a lesson in teamwork, perseverance and leadership. In volleyball, as in our professional lives, the focus is on having fun, but as soon as the game begins, our ambition is aroused. Each of us is challenged to get the best out of ourselves - no task is considered too small, no goal unattainable. The last game of the evening always has a special attraction: the losing team has to take down the net. This fosters a culture in which we learn to deal with defeat and grow from it. It teaches us that success often follows how we respond to failure. Volleyball strengthens our ability to act as a team, think quickly and act strategically - essential skills in any professional career. Every Monday night reminds me that the real win is in the striving, not just the result. Model experiment to evaluate #nitrite reduction in meat products   Due to the important role of nitrite curing salt in the production of meat products, we conducted a model experiment together with the Deutschen Fleischer-Verband (DFV) in order to better assess the effects of nitrite reduction.   For our experiment, we tested different nitrite concentrations for each type of sausage, including the old limit values (100mg/kg nitrite ions) vs. the new limit values (80mg/kg nitrite ions). The latest AllBright Report shows notable progress in gender diversity within Germany's 100 largest family companies. 🎉 In a significant shift, the representation of women in leadership roles is increasing. Although the current proportion stands at 12.6%, change is underway. Over the past two years, the proportion of women in executive positions has grown by 4 percentage points, nearly matching the growth seen in listed companies. Interestingly, nearly half of family businesses now include a woman in their management teams, a significant increase from just under a third two years ago. Yet, there's a stark difference between listed and non-listed family businesses. The proportion of women in leadership roles is almost double in listed companies (19.6%) compared to non-listed ones (10.6%). This suggests that transparency and external influence can drive gender diversity in management. Let's not overlook the fact that succession still remains male-dominated, particularly within owner families. However, as the Baby Boomer generation begins to retire, there's a golden opportunity for companies to diversify their leadership. Change is happening, and some companies are already leading the way.
