Once again, I facilitated a hybrid learning workshop that incorporates generative AI (#GenAI) and #LEGOSERIOUSPLAY. The virtual Miroaboration space in Miro provides an excellent platform to promote interaction remotely while some participants are present in a physical classroom. This approach offers the benefits of flexibility, personalized learning experiences, and enhanced engagement through Miro AI tools. The impact is evident in the seamless integration of in-person and remote participants, fostering a collaborative atmosphere regardless of location. However, challenges may arise in ensuring equal participation and managing technical issues. The human element remains crucial, as seen in the image of students in the classroom, highlighting the importance of balancing technology with face-to-face interactions. “The value of playing offense” in digital and technology – especially for companies that were not built as technology companies – is increasingly a critical path to corporate value creation that cannot be ignored. Technology is now much more than “IT,” as the consumer and colleague experience has become increasingly digital across industries, and as AI and data strategy become key focal points in enterprise strategy. While adding a technology committee to the board is certainly one way to facilitate diligence at the board level (as noted here by HBR), in my view, it’s just as important for the entire board to have appropriate engagement in these topics. Board members with operating backgrounds leading digital and technology businesses can facilitate growth in these areas by: -      Getting to know the leaders in management who are closest to the company’s technology strategy, and help articulate their knowledge across the board and with the CEO; -      Ensuring that developing trends in digital and technology are not just presented to the board, but are discussed in thoughtful dialogue around what it means for the company’s future, to enable the ability to “play offense”; and -      Championing the development in board culture where all board members, regardless of their expertise or committee, are comfortable in engagement around technology matters.
