The Limited Qualified Investor Fund (L-QIF) has been in force since March 1, 2024. The L-QIF is a new category of collective investment, designed to enhance the attractiveness of Swiss investment funds. The L-QIF is not subject to FINMA authorization. It is reserved to qualified investors and is generally administered by a fund management company. The Swiss fund centre is renowned as a hub for asset management and fund distribution, thanks in part to a high density of wealthy investors and an innovative workforce. Switzerland is less well-known as a location for investment funds, mainly because the authorisation of collective investment schemes in Switzerland is time-consuming and costly. To enhance the country's competitiveness as a fund centre and stimulate innovation, a new fund category was launched on 1st of March 2024: the limited qualified investor fund (L-QIF). One of the key benefits of the L-QIF is, that it does not require authorisation from, nor is it supervised by, the Swiss Financial Market Supervisory Authority (FINMA). ❓ Can the ‘new Swiss RAIF’ make Switzerland a more attractive location for foreign investment funds?
