Every encounter with cases of SGBV serves as a stark reminder of the urgent need to reflect on our actions. The loss of young lives and the extinguishing of hope in young girls at the hands of perpetrators raises profound questions about our collective efforts. Are our current initiatives and interventions truly sufficient? How can we amplify our impact and address the root causes more effectively? 'Delhi summers brought the anticipation of ripe mangoes but also the challenges of staying cool and hydrated amidst power cuts and limited air conditioning.' Here's my latest essay for Capita Ideas, where I share a bit about my childhood, what I learned growing up in scorching summers in Delhi, and how child and family serving infrastructure can better adapt to extreme heat in cities. "This is not just about making sure that facilities have air conditioning. We need to reimagine all the systems and structures that serve families and children—from health and human services to infrastructure and urban design. 3 take-aways from the thought-provoking discussions on climate action - a subject of critical importance to our shared future - at the #Humanitarian Networks and Partnerships Week (#HNPW) in Geneva earlier this month: 1️⃣ We, the humanitarian community, need to move beyond a false dichotomy between scientific data and local knowledge in the context of climate change adaptation strategies. It’s clear that local knowledge and scientific data translated at the local level is what will enable impactful climate action in the world's most vulnerable communities. 2️⃣ As primary data collectors and evidence producers in countries at the forefront of the climate crisis, our responsibility as IMPACT initiatives is to empower communities with the necessary tools and data to understand risks and act upon them based on priorities identified at the local level. This will allow all stakeholders to invest time and resources in solutions that are grounded in the local context and capitalize on the latest available knowledge on climate and environmental risks. 3️⃣ It’s imperative that we collect, analyse, and disseminate data on the impact of climate change in the most fragile and conflict-affected settings. They break down barriers and open us to a deeper reality, like this man I met finding his true family. These experiences, not just religious teachings, are the most powerful spiritual teachers. 😥 Heart-breaking findings from World Vision new report revealing that NOT A SINGLE COUNTRY SURVEYED HAS FULLY OUTLAWED AND ENFORCED A PROHIBITION OF ALL FORMS OF VIOLENCE AGAINST CHILDREN. The research shows that 1 in 2 children are victims of violence. For instance, child labour is currently a reality for 160 million children with numbers only increasing as a result of climate change. 12 million girls are married during their childhood. 📣 "With two months to go until the Global Ministerial on Ending Violence Against Children, World Vision is calling on all governments to urgently step up their efforts and increase investments to end violence against children. Gender-based violence originates from deep-rooted issues like gender inequality, harmful cultural norms, economic stress, and substance abuse. Weak legal systems and lack of education further fuel this crisis. "The New Humanitarian | The problem with emergency aid’s growing reliance on corporations" https://lnkd.in/eiRUFGg3 I have attached the mentioned article as it is of key importance the relation between humanitarian aid and the support given by Corporations with emergencies aid's. The present help and continuous support that is given by Corporations are guided not exactly with the same principles that a Humanitarnrian Organization (HO) has, it is true that besides finance they can give donate services or equipments, instruments, tools, kits,etc. But all HO must be careful of the relationship, ethics, influence and dependence. As we see the cost of living soaring, what was before the individual donations have been more than reduced, so there is a need to seek other funding and partnerships. Is clear that there has to be a selection who will be accepted,c which will not go against either the principles or objectives of the HO. The waters of relations might not be very stills. What will be your suggestions in order to have a support that will be objective and independant? As one suggestion, could be that, there could be a universal worldwide global humanitarian reduction tax programme for those donating a certain percentage, determine by their yearly results, been the following the targets: paid corporations, companies, businesses,billionaires, etc. And with that create a global fund for Humanitarian emergencies handle by a neutral, not influenced and objective organization, which could be a existing one (might be (OCHA), but with certainty that the leadership and any relationship, will have no interest of any kind., having a independant Committee Oversight to render account. Transparency, Accountability Ethic,, will always be key. This might reduce Appeal campaigns.

Reproductive health program resilience and preparedness remain underfunded, under appreciated, and misunderstood. ALL RH programs need to evaluate their vulnerability to disruption, not just those working in fragile settings. And yet this work continues to fall into the gap between development and humanitarian programs. Kudos to those who continue to address this persistent challenge.
