M&A continues to play a key role in the specialty food & beverage ingredient market. Consumers are demanding cleaner labels, more nutritious foods, exciting flavors and textures...and the list goes on. Specialty food & beverage ingredient players can use M&A to build their portfolios and capabilities to meet these consumer needs. A single ingredient, or even class of ingredients, is not enough to solve the demands of consumers and support the food and beverage CPG industry. Take sugar for example. Sugar plays a multi-functional role in formulations: sweetness, preservation and mouthfeel. Simply having a single natural sweetener or even a range of natural sweeteners in the portfolio does not enable a complete natural sugar replacement solution. M&A has become a requisite for players to quickly build-up more comprehensive portfolios and capabilities to serve the food and beverage CPG industry. A Wake-Up Call for Germany’s Economic Landscape BASF's decision to reduce its presence in Germany is symptomatic for the overall industry landscape and I find it deeply concerning. High energy costs, burdensome regulations, and a lack of political support for the industry are the primary factors driving their decision. This situation highlights the broader challenges facing Germany as a competitive business location. We need to urgently address these issues to ensure that Germany remains an attractive hub for industrial activity and Innovation.

Great start at this years‘ #EBICSummit With a very engaging discussion about ensuring and fostering robust food chains. My take aways: - Exposure and rewards need to be transparent especially where they are disproportionately distributed - Uncertainty and painpoints of each player can often be addressed and reduced with limited effort by the closest next chain-element - Publicly raised Appreciation of contributions by individual players from everyone in the system make a food chain a true „Value-Chain“ As input providers for growers, we as #Bayer are at the very beginning of a long chain - as consumer everyone at #teamBayer is also at the very end of this chain!

I am pleased to share with you a presentation that we delivered at the Pangborn 2023 conference on how perfumery can be leveraged to deliver emotional benefits to consumers. Our research shows that brands' growing interest in wellness makes perfumery an optimal means of achieving this goal, but it requires skilled olfactory execution tailored to different markets. Our combined Sensory and Consumer approach provides olfactive guidelines for such execution, and our research demonstrates that it is an effective means of delivering emotional benefits to consumers.
