  • MPEG-G genomic data compression

    Software development of the full ISO/IEC 23092 standard series (MPEG-G) for the efficient compression, transport and processing of genome sequencing information. The development involved 6 internal developers and interactions with 20+ member of the MPEG-G working group within ISO. The core technology is implemented in C with an SDK developed to integrate MPEG-G support in open source C/C++ tools for genomic data analysis (alignment, variant calling).

    Design, development and deployment of a cloud based software application for red blood cell antigen expression using genetic testing. The project started with the analysis of current solutions, elicitation of user needs and definition of technical requirements. Then a team of software developers and bioinformaticians was coordinated to deploy the solution on the cloud. The application is able to process a sample in 10 minutes from upload to finalization with respect to an hour for existing…

    I personally developed the web front end using ReactJS.

    The main aim of the project is to develop for the Swiss Platform for Advanced Scientific Computing a new computation node composed of heterogeneous hardware, a new compression format for genomic data and a software infrastructure that enables emerging applications such as Genome Analysis (e.g. RNASeq) to be able to process extremely large volumes of genome data in an efficient and timely way for scientific and diagnostic purposes (clinical application).
