Trend Scouting: Reuse ✨ Gregor Franc de Ferriere (f.k.a. Kolb) is the Co-Founder and Managing Director of the reuse company Relevo that offers reusable systems for food and drinks for take-away and delivery. He shares insights on the latest market trends in reuse. “I am seeing three larger trends right now that will have a lasting effect and probably stay with us over the next couple of years”: ✨Regulations: The political landscape is changing drastically. We have had many regulatory initiatives to promote reuse in Europe over the last six years, but the appetite for additional measures is low. ✨Closed loop systems: Reuse solution providers pivot from open systems to closed loop settings like canteens, campuses, stadiums and festivals. Closed loops reusables offer a similar return convenience to single-use packaging and are therefore extremely competitive. Here demand is increasing across the board. ✨Consolidation: The consequence of the majority of players starting to focus on closed loop settings, which is a smaller market, is that we will see a couple of years of consolidation. 🚫 No special legislation for influencer marketing in Switzerland 🚫 🗓️ On 26 September 2024, the National Council rejected a motion that called for the introduction of a legal basis to promote transparency and fairness in the area of influencer advertising in Switzerland. Furthermore, the motion demanded that a public authority be established or an existing one authorised to proactively take action if advertising is not clearly declared. The Federal Council had already proposed that the motion be rejected in May. With reference to the existing regulations in the Unfair Competition Act and the self-regulation of the Swiss Commission for Fair Advertising, the Federal Council considers current regulations to be sufficient (cf. our blog article here: https://lnkd.in/drDgvAXn). The National Council has now followed this view. The motion was rejected by 117 votes to 69. ❌ As a result, the motion will definitively not be implemented, and the existing framework continues to apply. 🤩 I am happy to share another brilliant and inspirational piece of work of our dear client, Philine Prof. Freifrau von Sell, and for (also our client at OVERW8) KATHARINA HOVMAN, her sister and Hamburg-based cosmopolitan fashion brand. For each season, she creates the in the meanwhile famous "lookbooks" - a storytelling 3D way of representing the new collection and colour palette of the season. I look forward to discovering these little treasures each time. 💡🛠 Our job at o8, by the way, was to help turn the idea into a feasible tech solution for Shopify. Philine shared her idea of how she would actually envision representing the new collections online. At first, it looked like it couldn't be done... but nothing we would stop short of! 🤠 We held a 'powwow' about how we could enable this in Shopify's overall great but creative-wise pretty restricted real, then built her like a custom app so she could turn her vision into a 360° experience with audio, video, and well-structured copy. It was a one-off investment that now elevates the brand's story several times a year to a different level while not having to fiddle with the already existing tech-based. It was inspiring to hear from some of the best in their fields recently, and one standout was Thomas Gresch, CIO of Axpo Group in Product Management Festival Zurich. In this talk "Engineering the Future: Turning a 100 Year Company into a Digital Powerhouse" , he shared practical examples and frameworks he uses to build tech organizations—even within complex constraints. Thank you, Thomas, for the insights. One of his key concepts that resonated with me was the "Organizational Maslow Pyramid." Here’s my take on it: Culture and People – At the base of everything is a culture that values growth, inclusivity, and well-being, recognizing that people are an organization’s most essential asset. Organization – Clear structures and roles provide a foundation for collaboration, enabling individuals to contribute meaningfully and with purpose. Tools and Processes – Reliable tools and efficient processes support productivity and help teams focus on impactful work without unnecessary friction. Look at your budget meaningfully. Strategic Priorities – Aligning initiatives with strategic goals allows us to balance immediate impact with sustainable growth, ensuring every action drives us closer to our vision. Everyone in the org should be aware of these. The necessary communication is first thing in the execution process. Vision – At the top, vision serves as our guiding light, uniting teams around a shared purpose and providing meaning to our work. Thank you again, Thomas, for sharing this framework. It's a powerful reminder of the elements needed to build resilient, purpose-driven tech organizations.

ERGO who are known for their innovative digital applications, is making history as the first insurance company in the world to launch an app on the Apple Vision Pro, right on time for the big launch last week. Explore an interactive slice of Düsseldorf with our ‘Tiny City’ app. This interactive, small map features various engaging objects and scenarios, including a nod to one of our favourite old school games, Rollercoaster Tycoon (check out the little people, who you can pick up and move). Tiny City will have three more scenarios added over the coming weeks, but kicks off with a traffic accident scenario. We're building this future step by step. A special thank you to Matthias Nawrocki for his vision and ambition in developing this app. The first of its kind. That was awesome 💛 Last Saturday, it was once again time for UXCamp Switzerland🇨🇭 We love this format because it reflects exactly what we enjoy: an event shaped by its participants. Each attendee can host a session, leading to a packed schedule of practical talks and workshops. Not surprisingly, AI was a dominant theme. Which we also loved! We got to learn about and discuss a broad range of topics that are close to our heart, including: 🤯 Will AI kill the human test users? By Reto Laemmler who compared conducting classic interviews with humans (via TestingTime) versus using synthetic users. 🎨 UX AI Copilot workshop By Roland Sailer 🇺🇦 & Stefan Hampel, with whom we examined UX components and where we already use AI in our daily routine. 🤝 Crafting Better UX: A Collaborative Quality Framework By Eva Cochet-Weinandt, who introduced a collaborative framework that harmonizes agile practices with quality assurance. 💛 We also wanted to contribute to the community. So, Alexander Zyuzkevich held a session on how to "Build Custom AI Apps with No-Code". The response we received was overwhelmingly positive, with many expressing their eagerness to continue the exchange of our topic. This enthusiastic feedback prompted us to quickly plan a webinar. 🤖 🤖 🤖 We will dive deeper into AI and share what we learned from designing and developing AI applications with No-Code. To achieve the product-market fit of their idea, they needed to build an MVP and validate it on the market. For this, our team was brought in as co-creation partners.
