Today, we spread some festive cheer with a special treat for our community - delicious Grittibänze lovingly handed out by the TECHNOPARK® Zürich team. ✨🎅🤶 These charming bread figures are more than just a tasty snack; they’re a cherished Swiss tradition with a fascinating history! 🥖✨ Did you know? ✨️ The Grittibänz has its roots in medieval Europe, where bread figures were originally made as offerings to spirits and gods. Over time, they became symbols of St. Nicholas. ✨️ There are regional twists: In Basel, they’re sweeter with raisins, while in Eastern Switzerland, they’re sometimes savory with cheese and herbs. In Valais, nuts and dried fruits add a unique touch. ✨️ In 2015 a Grittibänz of 26 meters length and over 2,500 kilograms in weight was baked in Lucerne! Beyond these fun facts, the Grittibänz carries a deeper meaning - it’s a symbol of community and sharing. Historically, families would break the bread and share it, emphasizing togetherness and generosity. We’re thrilled to keep this tradition alive at TECHNOPARK® Zürich, celebrating the season with our vibrant community. It's that time of year again at TECHNOPARK® Zürich - our beloved family of five reindeer are back to spread some festive spark around our walls! 🦌✨ They've become something of a seasonal tradition here, bringing smiles to residents and visitors alike. Did you know: Unlike many deer species, both male and female reindeer grow antlers - but there's a twist! Male reindeer usually shed their antlers in early winter, while females keep theirs throughout the colder months. So if you see a festive reindeer pulling Santa's sleigh, there's a good chance the ladies are leading the way. 🎅👩🦌 And by the way: our reindeer wall stickers, on the other hand, are always ready to shine.
