We rebuild coral reefs. Sustainably. Scientifically. With artistic vision. Our innovative, modular structures are designed to restore and promote reef life and serve as coastal protection barriers. Our reefs recreate the lost 3D-framework of a damaged reef, restoring reef ecosystem services such as fish stocks, tourism, biodiversity, and coastal protection. We achieve this goal by combining artistic vision with scientific rigor, and the newest 3D printing technologies.

Exciting times for the future of coral reefs 🪸🐠 Our co-founder, Dr. Ulrike Pfreundt, just returned from an incredible week at the #ReefFutures conference in Mexico, hosted by Iberostar Group, and organized by an incredible group of dedicated people at the Coral Restoration Consortium (CRC). Bringing together 800 reef scientists, restoration practitioners, and innovators, the event was a hub of inspiration and cutting-edge ideas to help #coralreefs thrive in the face of unprecedented challenges. Ulrike came back buzzing with ideas (and a notebook full of insights and new connections)! Some of her favourite takeaways include: 🔹 Autonomous monitoring technology: A robot by WARP Lab at Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution (with Yogesh Girdhar) combining visual and acoustic capabilities to monitor reef health. 🔹CoralX Foundation: An upcoming chatbot trained on 7,000+ scientific papers, designed to answer your questions on reef restoration. 🔹 Economic benefits of reef restoration: Curt Storlazzi work demonstrating a 1.5x ROI for restoring Florida's reefs through disaster risk reduction. 🔹 Innovative settlement enhancers: A spray-on coral settlement technology (SNAP) by Daniel Wangpreseurt, which works on any substrate. It was exciting to see so much interest in vertical relief reef structures like ours and the potential of community-based habitat regeneration using locally #3Dprinted clay modules. Another big highlight was the ground breaking work in reef visualization by wildflow and Sergei Nozdrenkov This vibrant exchange of ideas has fueled rrreefs passion even more to create scalable and innovative solutions for #coralreef restoration! 🌍💙 Stay tuned as Ulrike will be sharing her personal reflections in the coming days. We are looking for partners to build our biggest community reef so far🪸🧱 Our first project in 2025 will regenerate 100m² of degraded reef structure in the Philippines, and you can be part of this collective effort. Supporting over 25% of all marine life, coral reefs play a fundamental role in the health of our planet. Current projections highlight the risk of losing 90% of the world’s remaining coral reefs by 2050. Our mission is to slow down this decline and provide corals with a new home. Our reefs are designed to increase biodiversity, support marine life, and create a positive social impact for local communities. You can see fast, tangible results, with fish gathering as we build the structure and the first baby corals settling just months after implementation 🐙🐠🐡 Join us and regenerate the ocean, one reef at a time: 🔹starting at 1m² for 3,000 CHF (discounts available for larger areas) 🔹receive pictures of the reef and your personalised digital certificate 🔹enjoy 3 years of biodiversity monitoring 👉 Get in touch and learn more about how you can be part of the initiative: www.rrreefs.com/your-reef

Celebrating employee engagement for ocean conservation. 🌊🤝 We want to take a moment to reflect on the collaborative effort between rrreefs and the dedicated employees at Geistlich Pharma. Earlier this year, Geistlich’s #charityrun saw team members walking, running, and cycling an incredible 4,434 kilometers, raising $26,208 to support our mission of restoring #coralreefs. This donation enabled us to extend the size of our community reef in Siquijor, Philippines, which is currently being built. 🪸🐠 Geistlich CEO Diego Gabathuler: “Collaborating with rrreefs provided us with a unique opportunity to involve our employees in meaningful environmental action, demonstrating our commitment to the ocean and reef regeneration in the Philippines. It was a fantastic project for our employees to engage with." While fostering marine #biodiversity, this collaboration is all about empowering employees to engage with environmental efforts, demonstrating how collective action can lead to impactful change. 🌍💙 If you or your company would like to engage your employees through environmental action, please get in touch with Tim Day or Josephine Graf #rrreefs #pharma #marinelife #oceandecade #SDG14 #climateaction #climatechange Nikola Janevski

Did you know that #whales play a crucial role in #carbonstorage and thus in the fight against climate change? We all know that whales are awesome for breaching, singing, and gracefully gliding through the sea, but they also help mitigate #climatechange. These gentle giants capture carbon in their massive bodies and contribute to nutrient cycling in the ocean. As they move through the water, they contribute to #carbonsequestration in multiple ways, including the famous #WhalePump effect, where their nutrient-rich waste enhances phytoplankton growth – microscopic plants that absorb an enormous amount of CO2 and produce half the oxygen we breathe. 👉 Learn more: https://lnkd.in/dfhHawSn By protecting whale populations, we can enhance these vital processes. At rrreefs, we recognize the interconnectedness of marine ecosystems. Join us in our mission to protect and preserve our oceans 🌍🐋💙 NOAA: National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration #MarineConservation #WhaleImpact #rrreefs #ClimateAction

Last month, Marie was invited to share her journey and the work we do at rrreefs during the interdisciplinary masterclass on water, organized by Materia Incognita which took place on November 15 at Cité Fab. Sarah Lahrichi, President-Founder and Director of Materia Incognita, brought together an inspiring panel of people working on fascinating water-related projects: Nicolas Vernoux-Thélot, Stefania Barberio, and Clara Soleilhavoup. Marie Griesmar connected with architects, designers, and environmental professionals who showed her new perspectives on Marseille, its waters, and the Mediterranean Sea. These encounters sparked profound and enriching reflections on the diverse commitments and roles tied to these essential topics. New diver alert! 🚨 rrreefs digital marketing specialist took her PADI open water diving course in #kotao, Thailand to become an SSI certified scuba diver 🤿🥳 The 2.5-day course taught her how to be a confident and skilled diver, assembly and use of scuba gear, diver etiquette, and how to react in emergency situations underwater. After a day in the pool and a theory exam, Cassandre Wuarchoz jumped on board a boat and headed out to sea to start her true diving experience. 🛟⛴️ Cass encountered a lot of stunning #marinelife during her dives, including, pufferfish, triggerfish, and a variety of different corals. Some were bleached and some were thriving 🪸🐠🐡 All the team at #rrreefs are divers and they hold a range of different certificates, from beginner right the way up to instructor. Every employee has the chance to build a reef alongside local partners and members of the community once a year. This is a great opportunity for them to improve their diving and building skills as well as collaborating with the local team. ❓If you could learn to dive anywhere in the 🌍, where would it be and why❓ #coralreefs #oceandecade #SDG14 #climateaction #biodiversity #scubadiving
