My new position: Director at the #DFKI Lab Lübeck.
Today I have been appointed Scientific Director at the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (Deutsches Forschungszentrum für Künstliche Intelligenz (DFKI)) Lab Lübeck and Head of the Research Department AI for Assistive Health Technologies.
I would like to thank the Management of #DFKI for this great opportunity and the Presidential Board of the Universität zu Lübeck for their support. I am sure that this new DFKI position can be synergistically combined with my professorship at the Universität zu Lübeck to the benefit of all.
Based on our scientific roots at the Institute of Medical Informatics at the Universität zu Lübeck, we develop AI methods that learn complex relationships in a data-driven way and thus overcome the limitations of classic mathematical models. The most important application scenarios are personalized nutrition, sensor- and video-based motion analysis, active assisted living, affective computing and acoustic event recognition.
Beyond the health context, our research work also extends to application domains such as smart homes, smart cities, sales and consumption forecasting, production monitoring, predictive maintenance and process optimization.
We work closely with industrial companies and #healthcare institutions that want to improve their processes, services and products with AI-based analyses and predictions. Our closest collaboration partners include:
Universität zu Lübeck, Universitätsklinikum Schleswig-Holstein, Fraunhofer IMTE, Technische Hochschule Lübeck, H. & J. Brüggen KG, Future-Shape GmbH, mediatec.net GmbH, Perfood, ixp - institute of experimental psychophysiology, expandAI, REHA STIM MEDTEC.
