Embrace Immortality - Mosaics in the likeness of Gods

Info

Embrace Immortality The Ancient Way For centuries, mosaics have been one of the most potent and captivating symbols of power for Greek and Roman emperors, religious leaders, and royal families worldwide. Even now, prestigious residences, art venues, and houses of worship are continually elevated by the installation and presence of magnificent mosaics. This is because mosaics embody power, sophistication, and sublime beauty. It is no wonder that throughout history humans have turned to mosaics to capture and create their visual legacy. We take the legacy of our artform very seriously. This is why each point in the production process is painstakingly studied and executed with scrupulous care. Nothing is left to chance. Only those who have fully dedicated themselves and their time to mastering the craftsmanship of these ancient processes can design and create works of sublime and enduring beauty. Generations of mosaicists have followed one another and have passed on vital knowledge to their students and disciples. Each Master, while still incorporating these ancient techniques, develops his own imprint, adding depth and individuality to the production methodology. Thus, this venerable and enduring artform is continuously made anew. The director of the Mosaic Atelier Silvia Jencinella, co-founder and the creative director of the company for more than twenty years, is also the artistic and aesthetic director of the mosaic atelier. Silvia learned the methods, techniques, and the ancient way of mosaic production from the greatest Italian Masters in Italy and France. Her first training was in Rome, she later moved to Orvieto where she set up her first atelier. Her long years of mosaic production studies and hands-on learning, together with extensive experience in 19th century mosaics restoration, have helped her create a proprietary “school of method,” which is taught exclusively to those who are part of the MosArtek creative team.

Excavations for the construction of new buildings in Rome often lead to the uncovering of ancient artworks of incredible historical value. This is what happened in 1911. Some small villas were being built in the center of the city, and this breathtaking mosaic depicting the head of Medusa was found on a majestic floor, dating back to the 1st-2nd century AD. So did the Romans choose to transcend time, consigning their heritage and artistic legacy to us. It is a testament to their pursuit of immortality, and the seamless fusion of technical perfection and artistry that still keeps us in awe. #mosaic #art #history #arthistory #design #italiandesign #architecture #artwork #legacy 𝙄𝙢𝙖𝙜𝙚 𝘾𝙧𝙚𝙙𝙞𝙩𝙨: "𝘾𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙫𝙚 𝘾𝙤𝙢𝙢𝙤𝙣𝙨 𝘾𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙧𝙖𝙡 𝙥𝙖𝙣𝙚𝙡 𝙤𝙛 𝙖 𝙢𝙤𝙨𝙖𝙞𝙘 𝙛𝙡𝙤𝙤𝙧 𝙬𝙞𝙩𝙝 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙝𝙚𝙖𝙙 𝙤𝙛 𝙈𝙚𝙙𝙪𝙨𝙖" 𝙗𝙮 𝘾𝙖𝙧𝙤𝙡𝙚 𝙍𝙖𝙙𝙙𝙖𝙩𝙤, 𝙪𝙨𝙚𝙙 𝙪𝙣𝙙𝙚𝙧 𝙘𝙘-𝙗𝙮-𝙨𝙖-2.0 / 𝘾𝙖𝙥𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙖𝙙𝙙𝙚𝙙 Original source at https://lnkd.in/d8hVXP2x

. Evolve, change, rediscover. In 2002 I had tried clay as a temporary mortar for the double indirect method. At the prompting of Prof. Dario Narduzzi, then director of the Vatican Mosaic Studio, I changed theoretical approach: from lime putty to clay. I had never dared the double indirect. I tried it with clay. IT WAS A DISASTER. I missed directly watching the “Master’s gesture” to properly grasp the method. So in 2005 I quit clay and trained in the double indirect with Giovanna Galli, this time using lime putty. The method requires precision, attention and a well-thought-out sequence. Failure to comply means that too many tesserae remain in the temporary mortar when stripping, and reconstructing the texture of the work is an almost impossible mission. Crete, adieu. Lime putty forever! ...until yesterday. Taking the occasion of a couple of very small jobs I decided to try with clay again. I found a very plastic clay, excellent consistency. The right water-soluble marker and the drawing prints cleanly and accurately. No smudging, I can take it a tad slower in removing tracing paper from the surface because this clay has ideal moisture and texture. The transferred drawing should not fade as quickly as on lime putty (which has a different pH). Let’s see how the next steps work out: placing the tiles, leveling, veiling, stripping. Dear and beloved lime putty, I think I will cheat on you with clay, but you remain my first love. Prof., I bet from up there you’re giggling and saying “you finally got it, yes?!” “Whatever, but I’m hard-headed!” #researchanddevelopment #artisticskills #italianmosaic #art 𝙄𝙢𝙖𝙜𝙚 𝘾𝙧𝙚𝙙𝙞𝙩𝙨: © 2024, 𝙈𝙤𝙨𝘼𝙧𝙩𝙚𝙠 𝙂𝙢𝙗𝙃

  • Sometimes I break out of my comfort zone and challenge myself in micromosaic and “filato” mosaic techniques. I test specific methods and techniques applied on mosaics of different sizes. This gives me the opportunity, in a scientific and direct way, to test their limits or possibilities. Research and Development are my greatest passion. Now I have to collect all the informations from testing along these last 24 years into a well-organized document. And I must admit, I find this quite scary… Silvia Jencinella #researchanddevelopment #mosaic #testing #micromosaic

A central aspect that still distinguishes the art of mosaic today is its ability to impart an atmosphere of great elegance to any environment in which it is placed. When we think of style, especially Italian style, we think of the great fashion or automotive brands of today, and we forget that the origin of all this lies in the appreciation for beauty that these artists have cultivated. Ancient art, passed down through millennia, is where the seed of the unmistakable style of design has grown. This style has always enriched everything it touches and is recognized worldwide. For us, it is essential to ensure that any home can have a fragment of this elegance thanks to our mosaics. #italianmosaic #mosaic #art #architecture #design #italiandesign #luxury #artwork 𝙄𝙢𝙖𝙜𝙚 𝘾𝙧𝙚𝙙𝙞𝙩𝙨: © 2024, 𝙈𝙤𝙨𝘼𝙧𝙩𝙚𝙠 𝙂𝙢𝙗𝙃

How much of oneself must one give up to create something immortal? Sometimes, it is a difficult question to answer precisely because the final work is far more critical than this small sacrifice. Setting aside what we would do solely for ourselves is, in fact, the primary path that has always led great artists to immortalize their patrons and depict subjects in history. Letting go of one's ego sometimes benefits not only ourselves but also others. It could also be the way we achieve immortality through an act of altruism. #art #mosaic #creativity #artwork #artist #design #italianmosaic #quality #luxury #italiandesign #architecture #rooseveltskerrit 𝘾𝙡𝙞𝙥𝙖𝙧𝙩 𝘾𝙧𝙚𝙙𝙞𝙩𝙨: © 2018 𝙗𝙮 𝙔𝙪𝙧𝙮 𝘽𝙤𝙗𝙧𝙮𝙠 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙎𝙝𝙪𝙩𝙩𝙚𝙧𝙨𝙩𝙤𝙘𝙠™, 𝙄𝙣𝙘.

Life is made up of choices, each of which helps us better define ourselves and discover what we like and what doesn't suit us. However, every choice in some way requires courage and the willingness to put something of ourselves on the line. This is a conviction we must face whenever we deal with a client unfamiliar with the world of mosaics and who might feel somewhat intimidated by venturing into this luxury aspect, which is not mainstream and requires taste and expertise. On the other hand, for us, it is always an exciting challenge to demonstrate that mosaics are not just beautiful, but also valuable investments. We believe there is a piece in the world capable of capturing anyone's heart, capable of making them fall in love, and that will never tire the client's eyes, even after decades of 'coexistence.' #book #art #artist #mosaic #design #italiandesign #architecture #luxury

When the rhythm of music meets the timeless art of mosaics, magic happens! This piece draws inspiration from the harmonious blend of these two worlds, creating an unexpected symphony of shapes and colors. Just as sound waves vibrate the air to create music, the surface of mosaic tiles creates a visual symphony for the eyes. Each tessera is carefully placed to form patterns that resonate with the soul, much like a beautiful melody. At MosArtek, we believe that art knows no boundaries. By merging different forms of artistic expression, we breathe new life into each piece, resulting in unique creations that captivate and inspire. #italianmosaic #mosaic #art #architecture #design #italiandesign #luxury #artwork #musicart #lute #trumpet 𝙄𝙢𝙖𝙜𝙚 𝘾𝙧𝙚𝙙𝙞𝙩𝙨: © 2024, 𝙈𝙤𝙨𝘼𝙧𝙩𝙚𝙠 𝙂𝙢𝙗𝙃
