Last Thursday, we had an inspiring ideation session as part of the Innovation Booster Sport & Physical Activity initiative powered by Innosuisse, led by Terre des hommes on the critical theme of Youth Sport Safety. 🌟 We gathered at Gotham Coworking Lausanne Gare with around 20 dedicated participants from various backgrounds to address key questions such as: 🔍 How can we meaningfully engage young athletes to keep them safe in sports? 💡 What levels of engagement empower youth to become agents of change? 📋 How do we move from policy to action in engaging young athletes? 🏅 How can governing bodies (sport federations) better protect children and young athletes? The day was full of energy and insights! We started with a fishbowl discussion, uncovering valuable perspectives on topics like power dynamics, the importance of response mechanisms, the role of parents, psychological burden, and more. In breakout sessions, we worked on persona-based activities (child, coach, parent, federation) to build empathy and understand the pain points these groups face when it comes to youth sport safety. We wrapped up with a promising ideation session, generating ideas to explore and test further! 🙌 It was truly moving to see everyone so deeply engaged with this important topic. Our team had the opportunity to visit the Swiss Federal Institute of Sport Magglingen SFISM today and we were thoroughly impressed by both their state-of-the-art and historical infrastructures. A big thank you to the SFISM team for welcoming us so warmly. The cutting-edge technologies they utilise to measure strength, power, aerodynamics are truly remarkable in pushing athletes' performances to new heights. 📑 This week during the Athlete Education 4.0 Challenge, new participants joined the Pre-Test session to transition from the ideation phase to project planning of the ongoing Challenge. 💡 Two ideas from the previous ideation session were selected. It was important to clarify the hypotheses, testing methods, and resources needed, and to define team roles, values, and structure for the upcoming months. ✅ Athlete Education 4.0 Ideation Session, Part 1 complete! Last week in Bern, we welcomed 20 people from various institutions to address how to best develop a sustainable career with innovative education tools for elite athletes. ✍ We know that athletes face unique challenges that necessitate customised support systems. ThinkSport and the Swiss Federal Institute of Sport Magglingen SFISM are tackling this issue. First up, with a dynamic ideation session to explore the multifaceted needs of elite athletes. Some of the outcomes came from understanding that by leveraging the diverse expertise of athletes, former athletes, education experts, AI specialists, sports federations, and technology providers, we can aim to identify specific challenges, explore AI and digital solutions, find new ideas, and plan for effective implementation and scalability. The goal is to create a personalised, adaptive learning environment that fits seamlessly into athletes' lives, incorporating Learning 4.0 elements and ensuring continuous improvement and user engagement. We had deeper understanding of athletes' challenge thanks to great exchanges and insights from athletes and former athletes. Some of the outcomes covered included the spectrum of desirability, feasibility and viability, along with a first glimpse on the possibilities AI can offer to tackle this issue.
