[Don't panic, the future will be organic / agroecology] 🌱 “Live Green, Live Clean” – a powerful reminder from a young organic farmer during a busy but inspiring week of events in #Hanoi! From December 3–6, I was very glad to support a series of impactful workshops and a field visit on "Enhancing Organic Agriculture & Agroecological Transition in Vietnam", in close collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development of Vietnam (#MARD), FAO Vietnam, Research Institute of Organic Agriculture FiBL, and #CARES. These events aimed to advance the UN Secretary-General’s Call to Action for accelerated food systems transformation, addressing pressing challenges in food and nutrition security, climate change, environmental and biodiversity protection. Under the framework of the #AgroEconvert project, they were very timely in view of the recent signing of the Partnership Agreement for Transparent, Responsible and Sustainable Food Systems Transformation in Vietnam (#FST_Partnership). 📌 Few takeaways from the week: 🌟 FST-Partnership Growth: Welcoming three new partners, including #Italy and ActionAid, now totaling 43 local and international stakeholders. 🌟 Empowering Farmers: 15 farmers’ representatives (from Hoa Binh, Ha Nam and Hanoi) shared grassroots insights to strengthen agroecology and #PGS (Participatory Guarantee Systems) at provincial levels. 🌟 Policy Impact: Reaffirmed commitments from #MARD towards #agroecology as a key approach to implement Vietnam’s National Action Plan for a transparent, responsible, and sustainable food system by 2030. 🌟 Global Collaboration: Knowledge-sharing with international partners such as Research Institute of Organic Agriculture FiBL, FAO, International Potato Center (CIP), CIRAD, ASSET Project, #MASAF, Berner Fachhochschule BFH. 🌟 Hands-On Learning: Field visit to an inspiring organic PGS cooperative in Thanh Xuan commune, Soc Son District, a beacon of locally supported PGS organic initiatives. The energy, collaboration, and shared vision for a sustainable future were truly inspiring. A big thank you to all participants for their dedication and commitment to this critical series of events contributing to a more sustainable and inclusive food system transformation in #Vietnam! Stay tuned for the upcoming #PolicyBrief, which will consolidate the valuable recommendations and insights shared during this week. Let’s shape together a more sustainable future - one green step at a time! #AgroecologyWorks #AgroecologyNow #ClimateSolution #FoodSystemTransformation #Agenda2030 Photo credits: ActionAid & Pierre Ferrand

Smallholders need support to adapt to new EU organic regulation 📃💡 To harmonize organic standards, the EU regulations for organic imports have been changed. FiBL now presents the results of an international study on the new regulation’s impact on smallholder supply chains. As many smallholders may struggle to adapt, the study recommends that policymakers and industry leaders provide targeted support to ease the transition. 👉 More information: https://lnkd.in/dYuQWZMe

Ukraine’s participation in the SIAL Conference in October, one of the most influential international food exhibitions, marked a significant milestone in strengthening the country’s presence in global food markets. 11 organic and dairy producers represented Ukraine on the international stage: From cereals and fruits to premium dairy and baby food, their offerings reflected quality, dedication and innovation. Backed by the Swiss-Ukrainian QFTP program implemented by FiBL and SAFOSO as well as the European Union and the German Government, these producers could explore valuable partnerships and new market opportunities.
