Josef Aschbacher will officially open the conference on the Master Stage on May 14th at 9:00 AM. 🌍 Cybersecurity and Europe's Space Autonomy: A Path Forward 🛰️ The ambition for European autonomy in space is more than just a goal — it's a necessity. However, achieving true sovereignty is a monumental challenge. Launch systems, critical components manufactured outside Europe, and a reliance on external networks highlight the obstacles to independence. The Solution? "Security by Design." As Mathieu Bailly, VP of Space at CYSEC, stressed during Space Tech Expo Europe, securing Europe's space future starts with embedding cybersecurity at every stage of development. This approach involves: 🔐 Clearly defining threat models specific to the space domain. 🛡️ Implementing tailored countermeasures to mitigate risks effectively. While programs like IRIS² and the return of Vega C are steps in the right direction, Mathieu cautions that reliance on non-European systems remains a vulnerability.
