Integral Economics Incorporating Sustainability, Ethics and Faith

Info

It is time to rediscover the fundamental purpose of economics and entrepreneurship and to acknowledge the significant role of faith and theology in shaping economic processes. According to Luigino Bruni and Stefano Zamagni (Civil Economy), the market is not only an instrument to allocate goods but also a place for personal encounters. From this follows that we need to readjust our focus towards reciprocity and community, with our market and business activities being geared towards economic, social and ecological sustainability. As a teaching and learning community, this course will look at the good and evil of the current economic system and provide ideas and approaches for addressing how tomorrow's economy can be a tool for taking responsibility for our life world. This course further aims to promote effective and sustainable behavior of entrepreneurs, business leaders, managers, and workers and discusses how this responsibility can be transferred into practice in businesses and working places. Participants of the CAS «Integral Economics – Incorporating Sustainability, Ethics and Faith » will spend twelve months dealing with twelve major themes, which are fundamental to the Christian faith and a theologically informed perspective on work, values and business ethics: • Roots and Innovation • Poverty and Wealth • Money and Trust • Market and Community • Persons and Organizations • Work and Creativity.
