Below is a listing of academic and financial dates and deadlines. Please visit the respective office’s website for more detailed information on any of the dates and deadlines listed below. To facilitate with this, the financial related dates and deadlines have been linked to the Student Accounts dates and deadlines pages.

NOTE: The University Calendar is the University’s official source for academic dates. We make every effort to adhere to the published dates and will communicate any changes in a timely fashion. In the event of a date change, please be sure to consult the University Calendar for the most current listing.

Summer 2024

March 21, 2024

  • Carleton Central opens for registration for Carleton University degree students (graduate and undergraduate).

March 25, 2024

  • Carleton Central opens for registration for Carleton University special students

March 27, 2024

  • Registration for University of Ottawa undergraduate exchange students begins.

April 25, 2024

  • Summer Term Payment Deadline

May 1, 2024

  • Last day for receipt of applications for undergraduate degree program transfers for the summer term.

May 6, 2024

  • Summer Term Begins.

May 10, 2024

  • Last day for registration and course changes (including auditing) for early summer courses.

  • Graduate students who have not electronically submitted their final thesis copy to the office of Graduate Studies will not be eligible to graduate in spring 2024 and must register for the summer 2024 term.

May 17, 2024

  • Last day for registration and course changes (including auditing) for full summer courses.

  • Last day to withdraw from early summer courses with a full fee adjustment (financial withdrawal).

May 17-29, 2024

  • Full winter, late winter and fall/winter term deferred final examinations will be held.

May 20, 2024

  • Statutory holiday. University closed.

May 31, 2024

  • Last day to withdraw from full summer courses with a full fee adjustment (financial withdrawal).

June 1, 2024

  • Last day to request Formal Examination Accommodation for June examinations to the Paul Menton Centre for Students with Disabilities.

  • Last day for academic withdrawal from early summer courses.

June 11, 2024

  • Last day for summative tests or examinations, or formative tests or examinations totaling more than 15% of the final grade for early summer courses before the official examination period.

June 18, 2024

  • Last day of early summer classes.

  • Last day for handing in term assignments, subject to any earlier course deadline.

June 19-20, 2024

  • No classes or examinations take place.

June 19, 2024

  • Final summer term payment deadline.

June 21-27, 2024

  • Final examinations in early summer courses and mid-term examinations in full summer courses will be held.

July 3-5, 2024

  • Carleton Central opens for registration for new first year undergraduate students and students admitted from CEGEP.

July 9-12, 2024

  • Carleton Central opens for registration for returning undergraduate students and new and returning graduate students.

August 6, 2024

  • Carleton Central opens at 8:30 a.m. for registration for Special Students and Visiting Undergraduates on Letter of Permission.

August 13, 2024

  • Fall term registration for University of Ottawa undergraduate exchange students begins at 8:30 a.m.

August 25, 2024

  • Fall payment deadline.

August 28, 2024

  • Deadline for course outlines to be made available to students registered in full fall, early fall and fall/winter term courses.

August 31, 2024

  • Last day for receipt of applications from potential November graduates.

August 31 -
September 1, 2024

  • Residence move in weekend.

September 2, 2024

  • Statutory holiday. University closed.

September 3, 2024

  • Academic orientation (undergraduate and graduate).

  • Orientation for Teaching Assistants.

  • Class and laboratory preparations, departmental introductions for students and other academic preparation activities will be held.

September 4, 2024

  • Fall term begins.

September 10, 2024

  • Last day for registration and course changes (including auditing) in early fall courses.

September 11, 2024

  • OSAP deferral deadline.

September 17, 2024

  • Last day for registration and course changes (including auditing) in full fall, late fall, and fall/winter courses.

  • Last day to withdraw from early fall courses with a full fee adjustment (financial withdrawal).

  • Last day for receipt of applications for admission to an undergraduate degree program for the winter term from applicants whose documents originate from outside Canada or the United States.

October 18, 2024

  • Last day of early fall classes.

October 21, 2024

  • Deadline for course outlines to be made available to students registered in late fall courses.

October 21-25, 2024

  • Fall break. No classes.

  • Final examinations in early fall undergraduate courses will be held.

  • Late fall classes begin.

  • Winter Payment Deadline.

November 29, 2024

  • Last day for graduate students to submit their supervisor-approved thesis in examinable form to the department.

  • Last day for summative tests or examinations or formative tests or examinations totaling more than 15% of the final grade in the late fall before the official December examination period.

November 30, 2024

  • Last day for receipt of applications from potential February graduates.

December 3, 2024

  • Winter term registration for University of Ottawa undergraduate exchange students begins at 8:30 a.m.

December 6, 2024

  • Fall term ends.

  • Last day of full fall and late fall term classes.

  • Classes follow a Monday schedule.

  • Last day for receipt of applications for undergraduate degree program transfers for winter term.

  • Last day for take home examinations to be assigned.

  • Last day to pay any remaining fall tuition fees to avoid a hold on access to marks through Carleton Central and the release of transcripts and other official documents.

December 7-8, 2024

December 9-21, 2024

  • Last day for receipt of applications for admission from candidates who wish to be guaranteed consideration for financial assistance (including Carleton fellowships, scholarships and teaching assistantships) administered by Carleton University.

  • Last day to withdraw from late winter term courses with a full fee adjustment (financial withdrawal).

March 14-16, 2025

  • Early winter undergraduate deferred final examinations will be held.

March 15, 2025

  • Last day for academic withdrawal from full winter, late winter and fall/winter courses.

  • Last day to request Formal Examination Accommodation Forms for April full winter, late winter, and fall/winter final examinations to the Paul Menton Centre for Students with Disabilities.

March 25, 2025

  • Last day for summative tests or examinations, or formative tests or examinations totaling more than 15% of the final grade, in full winter term or fall/winter undergraduate courses before the official April examination period.

  • Last day for receipt of applications from potential June graduates.

  • Last day for graduate students to submit their supervisor-approved thesis, in examinable form to the department.

  • Last day for summative tests or examinations, or formative tests or examinations totaling more than 15% of the final grade, in late winter term undergraduate courses before the official April examination period.

April 8, 2025

  • Last day to pay any remaining balance on your Student Account to avoid a hold on access to marks through Carleton Central and the release of transcripts and other official documents.

  • Winter term ends.

  • Last day of full winter, late winter and fall/winter term classes.

  • Last day for take home examinations to be assigned.

April 9-10, 2025

  • No classes or examinations take place.

April 11-26, 2025
