  • Our physiotherapists, Idan and Harvey, are creatively engaging with toy farm animals to support child development. Activities like these are a wonderful way to help children improve their motor skills and coordination while making therapy an enjoyable experience. 🐄🐑 Through play-based techniques, we aim to foster learning and movement in a way that feels natural and fun for children. These methods help build essential skills in a supportive and positive environment. 🧸 #ECIP #ChildDevelopment

  • Speech and language development can be seamlessly integrated into everyday activities that children enjoy. By narrating their actions, labelling objects, and naming emotions, we support their understanding and use of language. For instance, during play, phrases like "This is fun" or "I like swinging" help connect words to experiences. Activities like playing with a marble wall provide opportunities to describe colours, textures, or movements using short, simple sentences. Incorporating communication temptations, such as pausing during phrases like "Ready, set, go," encourages children to vocalize or gesture. A brief pause before saying "go" gives them space to respond, whether with a sound or a movement. Acknowledge their attempt, then affirm their participation with phrases like "Yeah, go!" before continuing the activity. This approach fosters engagement and builds communication skills naturally. #ECIP #ChildDevelopment

  • Baby Brynn is already leaving her mark in Ms. Grimwood's Grade 1/2 class at Gordon Denny School. Through the Roots of Empathy program, students are developing emotional literacy in engaging ways. The journey began with Quinn, the doll, as the class compared sizes, sparking curiosity and thoughtful guesses about Baby Brynn's dimensions. The excitement peaked when Baby Brynn made her debut, and the students eagerly discovered whose predictions were spot on. These interactive experiences nurture empathy and fostering understanding among young learners. #ECIP #ChildDevelopment

  • When it’s too cold for outdoor play, we bring the fun indoors. Karter is exploring a sensory sand bin, which offers a great opportunity for creative free play. The texture of the sand provides a calming sensory experience, making it a favourite for little hands. 🌟 Sensory play like this encourages mindfulness and relaxation while supporting fine motor skills and creativity. It’s a simple yet effective way to engage the senses and enjoy playtime, no matter the weather. 🐚 #ECIP #ChildDevelopment

  • We're thrilled to have Baby Brynn and her mom join us for our Roots of Empathy program this year in the grade 1&2 classroom at Gordon Denny School. Through their interactions, students witness the powerful bond of attachment and attunement. Roots of Empathy is a social skills initiative that brings a parent and baby into the classroom each month, allowing students to observe and track the baby's development over her first year. This program helps students build emotional literacy by interpreting the baby's reactions and understanding how body language conveys feelings, as they learn to identify their emotions and develop empathy towards others. #ECIP #ChildDevelopment
