I asked some Recruiters from a Lithium Company about the fall in Lithium and about some of the other Lithium Companies decisions very recently in the news. They said they felt safe where they were but they are in the job of recruiting, to their respective company. The Question was in regards to Job Security and a potential move to lithium from Nickel. I'm interested in lithium as a potential new working home So if they are going to hold on in tough times great. If they are just going to fold up shop it's not so good. So how long can they hold on in a seemingly, continuously down turning market..?? Buying further in like one of the Big Lithium Miners up North has just done, is not a guarantee, but it helps make it feel like one. The place I work in Nickel did the same just before shutting up shop. I hope they all come out the other end stronger for their bad times and downturns, so they can live it up in the good times. One of the learnings and objectives in life....!! It's just the bleeding that worries me.

Employers: We need to do more of this … ✨ Indigenous People need to know about your company, and what you are doing for Indigenous communities, before we consider applying for your programs and positions. ✨ I talk with A LOT of employers and the first thing many want to know is where to post positions to increase Indigenous applicants. I tell them: ✅ There is lots of work to do beforehand to prepare your workforce -(people, programs, policies, culture). ✅ When you take the time to do Indigenous Awareness Training, and many more steps, you will prepare your internal organization which is the first step. ✅ Once you have a welcoming work culture that understands, and is motivated to advance Reconciliation …. you can then work on recruiting Indigenous People. ✅ This is how you will find success increasing Indigenous applicants in your wonderful organization. Honoring Indigenous Resilience and Service: A Reflection on the National Aboriginal Veterans Monument On National Indigenous Veterans Day, we remember the sacrifice, courage, and enduring resilience of Indigenous veterans who served Canada through some of history’s darkest times. Standing near Parliament Hill in Ottawa, the National Aboriginal Veterans Monument tells a story that resonates deeply—one of pride, pain, and an unbreakable connection to culture. Sculptor Lloyd Pinay, whose own father served as a WWII commando, infused every element of the monument with meaning. His father’s legacy, alongside the contributions of countless Indigenous veterans, inspired a work that speaks to both strength and healing. At the core of the monument are symbols that carry generations of wisdom: • The Buffalo: Rooted in Plains tradition, it stands for resilience and grounding. • The Elk: Agile and brave, a tribute to the warriors’ swiftness in action. • The Bear: A symbol of healing and self-reliance, reflecting the inner strength veterans carried. • The Wolf: Representing family and loyalty, it honors the community that surrounds every soldier. And above, the eagle—a powerful symbol of the Great Spirit—rests upon a curved staff, embodying peace and the warrior spirit. This is not just a piece of art; it is a space for healing, a gathering place where Indigenous veterans and their families find recognition and reflection. Pinay chose Confederation Park over a more prominent location because it provided a sense of grounding and connection, rather than mere visibility. This space reflects the need for authentic commemoration, one that respects the cultural significance of Indigenous veterans’ experiences. But this monument also reminds us of the injustices these veterans faced when they returned. Many were told, “go back to your reserve”—denied the freedoms they had fought for abroad. In creating this monument, Pinay honored those who came home to a country that didn’t fully recognize their service and continued to deny them basic rights. As we honor Indigenous veterans today, let us also recognize the strength required not only to serve but to persist in the face of continued adversity. Well done Bec. Your employee centric analysis of providers ultimately resulted in a great partnership. I think most people see an EAP as a reactive service and some withdraw at the idea of communicating such personnel aspects of their lives. To combat these perceptions, it was great to see the volume of content available in the prevention space, especially that available directly through the app.

Reconciliation Week Is Here 🙌 27th May - 3rd June A time dedicated to honoring Indigenous cultures, fostering understanding, and promoting unity. Believing in the power of reconciliation to heal, educate, and inspire positive change. This week holds significant personal meaning for me, as I reflect on my upbringing within an Indigenous family. Growing up, my cultural heritage was often questioned and unfairly judged, particularly as my Indigenous identity stemmed solely from my father. My family and I have navigated through uncomfortable situations and faced harsh judgments from those who were ignorant and uninformed. Now more than ever, it's crucial to address and dismantle these misconceptions. I am steadfast in my commitment to educate, support, and challenge stereotypes, all while honoring my family's legacy. This years theme is Now More Than Ever, throughout this week, let's engage in meaningful conversations, share our stories to promote understanding, and amplify Indigenous voices. 26 Days today (Black Friday) TO Boxing Day, December 26th … Curious? What are you investing in today that sets you up for next year in achieving your goals, or helps you with the pursuit of your dreams grounded in your purpose? A digital course? A book? A curated program? A vacation? A subscription podcast? A retreat? A coach? We are living in a time where more is demanded of us than ever before. Technological advancements are intended to create efficiencies that result in greater returns. While some will experience improvements, others will experience lasting negative impacts. Being in Human Resources often means you’re not the most popular person in the room. Sometimes, it can feel like a thankless job – tough conversations, enforcing company policies, and balancing the needs of both the business and its people. It’s easy to feel out of place, like you don’t belong, and to question your impact. But over time, I am starting to realise that our work isn’t about being liked; it’s about being trusted and respected. I’ve been trying to focus on embracing a positive mindset, finding confidence in the value I bring, and committing to my own growth so I can support others even better. It’s not always easy to stay motivated but believing in yourself and knowing you’re here to help your company and its people thrive makes it worth it. During a recent soft skills training session, participants were tasked with identifying key traits and qualities they aimed to develop in themselves and attributing those qualities to a colleague who exemplified them. It is humbling to have the team entrust me with the most endorsements. Descriptions from my peers highlighted me as a good Listener, adept at Communication, Transparent, Influential, with a Positive temperament, and Empathetic. I personally feel that there is nothing that I do not learn from our glorious team members, and It inspires me to further cultivate these strengths to empower others. As the holidays approach, let’s take a moment to think of those around us, especially our seniors. For many elderly individuals, this season can be challenging, particularly for those in nursing homes or without family nearby. The winter months often amplify feelings of loneliness, isolation, and grief, making mental and physical health struggles more common. Yet, a few simple actions from us can bring warmth and connection to their lives. Why Supporting Seniors Matters: Loneliness and Isolation – The holidays can be especially tough for seniors who feel isolated, which can lead to sadness and depression. Even a small gesture—like a quick visit, a call, or a card—can help alleviate loneliness and provide a much-needed connection. Mental Health Risks – This season can stir memories of loved ones who are no longer with us, amplifying grief for seniors. Studies show that mental health challenges are heightened for those 65 and older, with men over 80 facing an even greater risk of suicide. Winter Safety Hazards – Winter also brings physical risks, from icy sidewalks to heating challenges. Offering help with winter tasks can make a big difference in keeping seniors safe. Simple Ways to Make a Difference Year-Round: Adopt a Senior – Consider “adopting” a senior in your area or a local nursing home for ongoing support. Even small gestures like sending a card, visiting, or bringing a gift can brighten their day. Community Outreach – Engage with local nursing homes by organizing events or visits to bring joy to seniors. Community interaction doesn’t need to be limited to the holiday season—it’s valuable year-round. Support Meal Programs – Programs like Meals on Wheels provide food and companionship to seniors. Partnering with or volunteering for these initiatives helps meet essential needs. Share Mental Health Resources – Encourage open conversations about mental health, sharing hotlines or counseling options. Remind seniors that reaching out is a sign of strength. Winterize Together – Help with shoveling, grocery delivery, or home heating checks. A little support during the colder months can make a big impact on their safety. Organize Support Groups and Events – Create or join community events or support groups focused on connection, joy, or companionship. Consistent gatherings reduce isolation and create lasting bonds. “As you are now, so once was I.” Let’s keep this reminder in our hearts as we look out for our elderly friends and neighbors. Supporting seniors is not just a holiday gesture; it’s a year-round opportunity. Across the U.S. we can build communities that show up every season to make our seniors feel valued and connected.
