Want to Launch YouTube X Shopify ?? 🚀 Of course you do… 💰💰💰💰 At first we thought anyone would be eligible, but here’s what we know now… (thanks for sharing this on X Paul Jauregui 🙏) To connect a Shopify account for YouTube shopping, the following requirements need to be met: 1.Approved for Monetization: Your YouTube channel must be approved for monetization. This means you must be part of the YouTube Partner Program, which generally requires compliance with YouTube’s policies, including meeting the minimum subscriber and watch hour thresholds. 2.Based in an Eligible Country/Region: Your YouTube channel must be based in a country or region where the YouTube Partner Program is available. This is necessary for enabling monetization features. 3.1,000 Subscribers or Official Artist Channel: Your channel must have at least 1,000 subscribers, or it must be recognized as an Official Artist Channel. This ensures that the channel has a significant audience and is actively engaging with viewers. 4.Not Made for Kids: The channel’s audience cannot be set as made for kids, and it should not have a significant number of videos marked as made for kids. This is important because channels designated for kids have certain restrictions on monetization and external linking. 5. No Violation of Monetization Policies: Your channel must not have a significant number of videos that violate YouTube’s channel monetization policies. Channels must adhere to YouTube’s guidelines to ensure that monetization is not at risk. 6.No Hate Speech Strikes: The channel must not have any strikes related to hate speech under YouTube’s community guidelines. Maintaining a clean record in this area is essential for continued eligibility for monetization and external linking features like YouTube shopping. We are all learning at the same time as this gets rolled out! How to grow a B2C / self-serve SaaS to $50k MRR. My 5 key takeaways 👇 Last week, I hosted the Friday Bootstrapped Dev call in our Skool community. We covered a bunch of questions for the Indie Devs. One member was asking about how to grow and scale a B2C SaaS, specifically a meditation app profitably. Funnily enough, another founder on the call had already scaled his own meditation app to $50k MRR and gave a ton of insights on how to do this with iOS. My 5 takeaways, if you are going into B2C or self-serve SaaS as your first SaaS: • Have a ratio of 1 technical person to 2 sales & marketing professionals • Bootstrapping works when you can actually collect cash - he collect $100/user minimum • Make sure you are at least at 3, even better 4 LTV to CAC ratio (5 means you need to spend more on marketing) • Don’t try to compete in a game you can’t win soon. I.e. $3/m + app payments with high churn aren’t going to make you hit $10k anytime soon, filter out users by price • Track ruthlessly to identify the “Aha!” Moment and optimize everything to push the user to have this experience first There’s a lot more that you can see in the full call breakdown in the free Skool community. (link in the comments) We also went into the different stages of finding product market fit before they were able to make enough money to start on ads. Even though they are at $50k MRR as a bootstrapped team, it took 6 years to get there. Think of that $600K ARR after 6 years of work, likely the first few are losing money or you are barely able to pay yourself to do the project, not to mention the App Store fees (15%), and personally doing customer support, content marketing, emailing, running ads etc. Sounds tiring. I don’t look down on it, $600k is good. But imagine being able to get there in 1/4 of the time, without having all the other people, complexities etc. I want you to understand the importance of the right business OS. To scale the iOS offer, you need ads, and before that, you pay with your life and time to manually convince people to use the app. Many people never leave this stage, and they get burnt out and quit. Game over. Imagine if you were going to play football (soccer) and you have a smaller team, your hands are tied and you are blindfolded when you play. The other team doesn’t have any of these hinderances. Who will win? Ivan Sanchez was fantastic onboarding us. Mail: PostPilot Post Pilot is THE platform for Shopify mail campaigns. We get a 7+ ROAS on mailers and can deliver to customers not on our e-mail lists. The mailers are a great brand impression. Awesome product Drew Sanocki and Michael Epstein Mobile App: Tapcart Push notifications and early access to product drops are the main app driver. Our highest LTV customers love the experience. Tapcart truly makes the app easy and affordable. Shoutout Nik Sharma. Returns: Loop We’re currently onboarding. Their interface handles every type of return flow we need beautifully. They integrate into Gorgias and Siena AI. Landing Page Builder: Replo Replo has changed the game in performance marketing for us. We now have full creative freedom, in a way that we never did with our traditional Shopify pages. Site Speed: EDGEMESH Edgemesh has provided a significant boost in site speed. They cache our content every 15 minutes, significantly increasing page load times and helping convert new customers. 3PL: Encore Fulfillment Encore has been our 3PL from day 1. They’ve scaled up with our business, which is incredibly impressive. They now handle significant volume, fulfilling to all the biggest retailers and drop shipping. We have immense gratitude for Kyle Thompson and team. Customer Metrics: Lifetimely by AMP Lifetimely makes tracking LTVs easy. You can get enough answers through shopify where I’d wait on this app until the cost isn’t as material. Most importantly... Of course, none of this would be possible without what Harley Finkelstein has built at Shopify. We are forever grateful to the platform they’re built.

Every month I audit dozens of Meta ad accounts and pixels for Shopify businesses. I see the same problems over and over. Here's the top 4 issues and how to fix them. ____________________ 🚩 1️⃣ No Consolidation If your business chronically gets fewer than 50 conversions per ad set per week, consolidation is a must. With too little volume, your campaigns never exit the Learning Phase and you end up with Meta "light". To fix this: ▶️ Consider one single ASC campaign with one ad set that explores a series of different creative concepts. ▶️ Launch other campaigns when you've got one campaign out of learnings and operating with acceptable cost-per efficiency. ______________________ 🚩 2️⃣ Using Shopify CAPI You need to have a solid data connection in order to use Meta ads with success. Shopify's free CAPI connection is a basic relay that doesn't work well for very many brands. To fix this: ▶️ Consider upgrading to an advanced data connection (like Popsixle) ▶️ Benefit from order-source routing, 100% event coverage, and custom logic with custom events ______________________ 🚩 3️⃣ Single Size Creative Sure it's fast and easy to just use square images or one size of video assets, but this is holing back your ad performance. Take the time to upload different crops and asset sizes to ensure every ad placement is optimal. To fix this: ▶️ Save a square, vertical, and horizontal version of all creative with thoughtful cropping of each. ▶️ Leverage ASC and other ad types where you can specify the version of creative for each type of placement (square, vert, horz) _______________________ 🚩 4️⃣ Only One Text Option Meta makes it easy to test a wide range of creatives and benefit from when top performers emerging. Not only does this lead to better ad performance, but it offers insights on what is working and why. To fix this: ▶️ Always explore multiple versions of your creative ad copy, headline, and text call-to-action. (Up to 5 versions per parameter) ▶️ Use ad reporting splits to see which versions are performing and learn from what is working ____________________ SUMMARY There are a lot of best practices that can ad up to better ad performance. Remember that campaign structure is one of the four pillars of excellence and often leads to 10-15% better ad performance. These entrepreneurs faced risk in their platform-dependent business. So they opted to sell their Shopify app: Canadian entrepreneurs Derek Morin and Bogdan Radu knew there was a risk to building apps for someone else’s platform. In 2016, they launched Tabarnapp to enable automatic discounting in Shopify. Their metrics by 2022: • Over $1 million in annual revenue • 80% net margin • 60,000 downloads of their flagship app, Automatic Discount • 2,500 recurring clients paying $10 to $1,000 monthly But they recognized the risk. “We realized that at any point, because we were platform-dependent, we could go bankrupt or we could be disrupted by Shopify,” Morin said. Changes to the platform — plus an increased competitive landscape — sparked the idea to sell the company. They sold Tabarnapp to software company Staytuned in November 2022 in a mid-7 figure deal. When I started including user-generated content in brands' emails, their engagement rates shot up.
