Shopify isn't going all in with marketing the SHOP app, instead, they're going slow and figuring out the product-market fit. They don’t need to rush because they have millions of merchants directly connected to the SHOP app through Shopify integration. It would take years for anyone else to build something similar. I think this is going to be massive in a few years. 9 out of 10 schools spending $50k/m on ads are inflating their cost per enrollment by this one thing. Poor web experiences. 3 of the biggest culprits are: Slow-loading sites We're impatient and so are people visiting our sites. Parents won't wait for your page to load. They'll leave and never come back. Every added second costs you potential enrollments. Overcomplicated forms Do your forms resemble a medical form? Too much information up front scares people away. Break-this up into a couple steps or remove items. Unclear call-to-action "What am I supposed to do?" Make it CLEAR what you want people to do. If people have to think, they'll just leave. How to fix this: 1. 𝗦𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗳𝘆 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗽𝗮𝗴𝗲𝘀 2. 𝗥𝗲𝗺𝗼𝘃𝗲 𝘂𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗽𝘀 𝗼𝗻 𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝘀 3. 𝗢𝗻𝗲 𝗖𝗟𝗘𝗔𝗥 𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗽𝗲𝗿 𝗽𝗮𝗴𝗲 If you implement one of these items, I'll bet you see a drop in your cost per enrollment. Two weeks ago, I started the r/CanadianBacon sub on Reddit so Hardbacon expertise can be found on Google. (PS: For those of you that are not aware, Google search result now mostly display Reddit threads for any query, which basically relegates websites like Hardbacon to the second page of search results) There are already 630 Canadians in this sub and I personally answered dozens of personal finance questions from the members. We are also getting better at paid acquisition and running campaigns on Facebook, Bing and Google (yes, the irony is not lost on me). We launched 2 Linkedin newsletters (Canadian Bacon in English and Gras Dur in French) that generated 15,000 articles views so far. We are also running multiple ads campaign to grow our email newsletter and are currently working on a soon to be launched SMS-based newsletter. My point is there are always other ways. Thanks Google for teaching me importance of traffic diversification :)

How do you change Shopify's checkout to increase purchases? 🛍 If you're using Shopify, you know the checkout is pretty standard - limited flexibility - change a logo here, tweak colour swatches there. But since this page is one of the most impactful pages on your store, you have to push within it's boundaries by implementing these changes. 1. Simplify checkout steps to reduce friction and boost conversions. 2. Offer diverse payment options to cater to a wider audience. 3. Use free shipping incentives to increase order values. 4. Implement Google Autocomplete for faster and error-free entries. 5. Enable 1-click checkout for seamless repeat purchases. 6. Display security badges for customer trust. Here's how Shopify changed the game. They basically gave everyone easy access to an ecom platform - they said, lets only charge them ONCE they are making money - so with Shopify you can set up a store, set up a site, be up and running, test your system and only once you get those credit cards swiping, do you start paying. This was different than all the other platforms out there which is why they were so unique (among many other things). Stay tuned as this weeks podcast (launching Thursday) talks a lot about Shopify and the ecom platform industry as a whole. You don't want to miss it...unless you don't care about ecom, that would be a good reason.

Multiple Shopify stores had a rough Monday-Wednesday this week. After spending thousands $$$'s in team resources, we found out the issue... Crowdstrike patches impacted browsers + Cloudfare (Shopify's distribution network). Users had latency issues and difficulty with checkout. Was I frustrated? Yes. Lose sleep? Yes. Take it out on my team? Yes. Their fault? Yes. My fault? Yes. No one's fault? Yes. The fact is, even when these things happen (and they do happen in the world of digital), it may not be our FAULT, but it is our responsibility. There's always a way we can improve. Processes, communication, management (patience), all get sharpened when there's a "fantom" issue. Doesn't mean they won't happen again, but how we can recognize the pattern faster. Once we know this number, we can work backward to align ad spend, creative testing, and campaign strategy to hit your profitability goals. 3️⃣ Building Campaigns That Scale Smarter: We pair financial clarity with creative strategy. This means isolating angles, targeting specific personas, and focusing on profit-first scaling—not just vanity metrics like ROAS. 🚨 Here’s the hard truth: If you don’t know your AMER or your CAC threshold, you’re blindly throwing ad dollars at the wall. The biggest challenge in cold emailing now and in the future is deliverability. Deliverability means getting your emails into the primary inbox, not the spam folder. Google and Outlook are getting smarter and stricter, making it harder to avoid the spam filter. We've been testing Maildoso for the last three weeks among other inbox solutions, and we're seeing strong results so far. Google and Outlook inboxes aren't built for cold email. Maildoso is. They take care of domain purchases and DNS settings, making it easy to set up and replace burned inboxes. We'll continue to test, but the initial signs are good. Let's talk about Shopify's Average Order Value. You know how we all rely on it? Well, it doesn't tell the whole story. So I made this little tool to track order values in different price buckets. Introducing ShopInsight V0.3 Here's why I think it's cool: - You can see which price ranges are driving your sales - It shows trends you might miss just by looking at the average - Makes it easier to figure out where to focus your efforts - Helps you design offers based on where you're getting the most sales. We've been using it for a while now, and it's pretty eye-opening. Anyway, some of you might find this useful too. If you want to try it out, comment "bucket" below and I'll send you the code. Do you have a metric ton of blogs on your shopify site… that are not doing anything for you? Here’s how we fixed that for one of our clients: Started with 200 existing blog posts - written by VAs and AI.  If I was a high school english teacher, I’d give them a respectable B, B-. Not terrible, but not performing. Instead of creating new content, we: \- Added more depth to key sections \- Restructured the flow \- Refined intro paragraphs \- Built strategic internal links Focused on maximizing existing content rather than creating new posts. And any blog that wasn’t geared towards high intent buyers that would funnel to collection pages?  We cut those. They were dead weight. Every optimization supported our collection pages.  That's where the actual revenue comes from. No new content needed. Just smarter optimization of what already existed.
