This continues to be an issue in our industry, it’s become systemic. It’s not just these non-compliant carriers not remitting source deductions or WSIB premiums. It’s fraudulent licenses, TFW abuse, forced labour, improper or no insurance, shortcuts in safety and maintenance, deleting emission control devices, and the list goes on and on. It has to come to an end and it’s going to take the entire industry and those related to stop it. The government needs to enforce the law with actual consequences such as revocation of operating authorities, the time for education is over; this isn’t an oversight. Insurance companies need to stop insuring them, finance companies need to stop financing their operations, shippers need to stop hiring them or face the financial consequences of the chaos they cause on the road ways, brokers and carriers need to stop giving them brokered loads - even if they are the cheapest rate. The general public needs to know just how bad the problem is and they need to be and should be as outraged as the compliant carriers in our industry. IT HAS TO STOP 🛑

Canada's railways are facing a strike. Since Canada’s ocean ports are incredibly dependent on rail, we’ve already provided alternative shipping options for our customers to avoid delays from a potential strike. Keep in mind, if the Port of Vancouver also strikes this disruption will have greater consequences with longer lasting implications. A lot could happen between now and the pending strike date. If you haven’t spoken to a Robinson expert about this yet, now is the time. The impact is far wider than just Canadian rail or ocean imports/exports, it will reach across modes and countries.

Global truck driver shortage to double by 2028 -DriverDX CEO, Angie Ricci, calls on industry stakeholders to meet at the table to address this issue and work towards solutions before it's too late. Alarming stats show over 3 million truck driver positions are currently unfilled in 36 countries studied. A new report forecasts the global driver shortage to double by 2028. Only 12% of drivers are below 25 and just 6% are women. This shortage could have significant impacts on the transportation industry and global supply chains.
